After years of hearing about how great and wonderful these smitty sleds are I decided to build one. Nothing fancy but should work good I think. 4 wing nuts and the whole thing comes apart and could fit in the front seat of a car easily. I made the one side wider to hold my hub. I may end up widening the skis so the hub don’t hang over the side of the ski. I’ll give it a try and see how it works first.

Looks good. Yes many ways to build. Looks nice an compact. If you didn’t want to go wider you could elevate the hub by building some kind of carrier.
    Trust they help when walking.

I’ve never used one of those belts but I made the rope extra long to wrap around me and that helped a lot in the past when pulling

Looks good. I would attach the rope to the wood frame not ski tips. Load it up and have someone pull it and watch what happens to the skis. You will be surprised home much they flex when you pull. AND trust me, the skis do break.

I use an old treestand safety harness (came with treestand) to pull my sled. It is much easier than holding the rope by hand. It gives you 2 hands to carry stuff OR use a chisel to check ice as you walk.

I attached the rope to the skis of mine and I had a buddy pulling it around with his 4wheeler one day. He got a little excited and took off with some slack in the rope and destroyed the skis. My sled looks almost identical to yours except I spray painted mine black
