    Hey gang-
    Looking to buy a St. Croix AvidX 7’ medium. Can anyone tell me their opinion on a reel and specific size to pair up with this rod?

    Depends what application you want it for. Pitching jigs alot, bigger reel to balance the tip out 10oclock, vertical alot, smaller reel to balance perfectly horizontal. Etc etc. Depends how you hold rod as well.

    Bring the rod in store, slap on each reel and feel for yourself how it feels. There is no other way to do it.

    Once again I recommend a Pflueger, President model or up, 1500 or 2000 series.

    Pflueger does not have a 1500 or 2000 size. You must be referring to Shimano.
