This thing is awful sexy looking… I hope Savage improved the quality over the original.

I think it would be a bigger turn on to have her wearing a salt/pepper thumbhole stock…..and imagine a 8-40×50 Burris scope married to it
December 17, 2014 at 2:04 pm #1485323I agree, it’s a good looking rifle. However…
After my hair-raising, near-purchase experience with the original BMAG, I’ll be sitting it out for a while longer. Man, did I dodge a no-pun-intended bullet with this one. I had the guy at the counter bringing out every B-Mag they had and each one looked and felt worse than the last one.
I’m glad Savage seems to have put this on the path to improvement because I love the concept behind the cartridge. Over the long haul, I think this is one of the few new cartridges that has the potential to see mass adoption and last.

December 17, 2014 at 7:01 pm #1485421I want this cartridge so badly but I’d need to get my hands on one first to see if it is actually better quality.
December 17, 2014 at 7:13 pm #1485424I’m sure it will be a feature with Savage at the Shot Show. I’ll definitely make it a point to go by and see it
December 17, 2014 at 8:10 pm #1485450Did Savage ever improve/beef up the stock so the Bmag’s will shoot straight?
December 18, 2014 at 1:17 pm #1485746Can’t wait to hear the review Randy. The 93 models are amazingly accurate so I don’t know why they can’t get the same from the Bmag.
December 20, 2014 at 6:58 am #1486343Kooty, a couple of my dealers had it in stock, so played with them between customers coming into the store.
I didn’t get to shoot it, and I won’t be at the range day at shot show, so I won’t get to shoot it there.
Barrel, extractor design, and a bit higher elevation of action above the stock. All good in my opinion. Even with the factory synthetic stock, it felt good.
Two things stood out at me that I didn’t like. Locking the bolt was like trying to torque header bolts. Easy to grip and a relatively short throw. But way too tight to close. All 3 that I picked up were like that. If you ever chambered a round that had way too long of an AOL and the bullet was jammed into the lands, is about how it felt…without dropping a round into it.
The second thing I noticed on all.3 and probably not significant was how crooked it sat in the stock. All 3 had the barrel on a noticeable angle to the stock. When you shoulder it and have a comfortable position, the barrel wasn’t straight down the stock. I would take apart and remount/shim if I were to get one.
Otherwise, looks like it would be a fun round to shoot
December 20, 2014 at 11:01 am #1486387I agree, I would look at it with my hands before ordering one into a FFL drop site
January 10, 2015 at 10:03 am #1495142Now that holidays are past, I’m hoping things will slow down a bit for me. I haven’t had time to even think about stopping at Cabelas to check one out.
January 10, 2015 at 10:23 am #1495152Good luck Kooty. Keep us posted as I am also curious about them.

January 21, 2015 at 6:33 pm #1500777Well, I went and looked at Cabelas this weekend. The Bmag is still a let down as far as the action goes. It also didn’t have the high gloss stainless like the pic shows. It was not at all what I had hoped. Oh well, I’ll keep waiting for them to get better or someone else to make an affordable model.
January 27, 2015 at 8:14 am #1503081Kooty, the pic I took at Shot of the new 2015 was blurry. Here is the new one on the bottom – Unfortunately, they all use that short throw bolt with the stiff spring for cocking the pin. I heard a number of people, including myself, complain about how how awkward it feels. Otherwise, nice feeling gun.
My daughter wants a new .22lr. Thinking the new A17 semi .17HMR instead (shown on top)

January 27, 2015 at 10:33 am #1503157Wow, your ears must have been burning. I was just coming to see if there was an update to this post. Thanks Randy!!!
January 27, 2015 at 11:11 am #1503172Kooty, you have no idea how much I need to get out and burn some powder. 3 days of being in a gun porn site, and not getting to (edited for our viewing audience)……Let’s just say I had the most beautiful firearms in the world cradled in my hands, and only got to dry fire a few.
BTW – If you ever thought you touched a good trigger, you need to touch the HS Precision trigger.
FisherpaulPosts: 214January 27, 2015 at 1:59 pm #1503293IT’s a good thing you can’t buy them there. Most guys would go home in debt!
January 27, 2015 at 5:00 pm #1503382HS Precision Trigger???? Details???? Of course, special point of interest would be if they have one to fit the Axis or not.
January 27, 2015 at 5:24 pm #1503388HS makes their own triggers for their custom builds. I’m guessing the Axis is not an option. I dry fired a lot of rifles there. At about 2-1/2#, the element of surprise was absolutely perfect to what a lot of F class and snipers have been teaching me. It was so crisp and clean compared to any trigger I ever touched. So hard to describe, yet felt so perfect – make sense???
I wanted to take this HTR (built by HSP) home with me in the worse way. At the time, I may have been willing trade my wife for it.
