Do you have a budget in mind? What kind of line do you plan to troll with?

I am trying to be under $200 for a rod and a reel combined. I plan to troll with braided line from Suffix.

If your on a budget I suggest buying off of eBay. For the bass combo I recommend a 7’1″mh Daiwa Tatula Rod with 7:1 or 8:1 Tatula Reel in the CT (compact). If the new Tatula SV’s reels live up to the SV promise I am guessing a lot of guys are going to be selling their old Tatula’s come mid April.

For trolling set ups there is no need to spend a bunch of cash. I have been using cabelas depth master trolling rods for years with great success. They have many model as for different applications. I pair them up with diawa accudepth line counter reels and have never had issues. There are better more expensive reels, but these have been perfect for long line, planner boards, and lead core. I have 1 cabelas depth master reel and it seems a little cheaper built but I haven’t had any issues with it either.

Good luck and have fun in your search!!!

I have a med heavy diawa Lexa combo that I would sell to you, $130 it’s never been used it just doesn’t fit in with the rods I plan to use this year
