Well Ive always said if Otter comes out with side entry flip over Im getting one.Today I got my new Otter X-Over Lodge and was putting it together and am a little disappointed. The old XT1200 sled was thicker and what Ill say was more heavy duty than the new gray sled. Im guessing to keep costs down.
The seats are a little different and look to be better thought out with no snaps to break.
Ive fished out of a Frabill Predator side entry and loved it. I like the way Otter has the movable post so you can use it either way and only time will tell how it all works out just hope the sled holds out.

Hmmm, I can’t imagine Otter went cheap on what they are known for? I have a 2017 XT Pro Cabin and my grey tub is super thick…

Maybe you got a bad mold?

now I know why I got such a killer deal on a brand new model last year…

Same here. I bought a Lodge with the bucket seats through Thorne at a major discount in February 2018. I never ever set it up, knowing that I was house hunting. It’s still in the box in the garage. I’ll set it up shortly.

I’m still super thrilled to have the older version. I’ve fished out of that model and I know it’s nearly flawless. For what it’s worth, the less zippers, the better.

Nothing has changed. The otter sleds still come out of the same mold. The amount of resin used is the same. The weight is identical. The only difference between the regular black sled and the grey “pro” sled is the pigment color.

JUST went and bought my Pro Cabin X-Over today at Joes Sporting Goods in Roseville, MN. FYI to everyone here they are selling the pro cabin x-over for $749.99 and the Pro Lodge X-over for $849.99

That’s $150 cheaper than Cabela’s and $50 cheaper than L&M. I’d wager the best deal we’re going to see all season that’s why I pulled the trigger.

I knew I’d be buying a new one so sold my XT Cabin at the end of late ice this year, knowing I wanted a pro and waiting to see what came new for 2018. I have to say Frabill has a very nice setup and by far the best storage configurations but I couldn’t convince myself to stray from Otter build quality so went ahead and upgraded my cabin to the pro X-over cabin.

Glad I did too, only gripe is you lose 2″ of height and that’s been known all along with the pro sled being shallower by 2″.

The good news is the 2″ allows it to fit under my tonneau cover. Bad news is at 6’2″ tall it means I now have to slouch a bit when standing, but that’s acceptable to me for all the other positives.

Can’t wait to set it up tonight.

That price will get pummeled at the sports show by the fellas at Reeds! Great buy out of the store though!
