New old boat with old gas

I recently picked up a 1998 Lund pro-v that Was used very little in the last several years. For the last 2 or 3(he couldn’t recall) years, it never left the garage. It was sitting in an unheated garage with a full tank of non-oxy that was treated with sea foam. The gas smells fine, but I am nervous about it. How long will treated fuel last?

I would pump it out if you can and throw it in your car/truck.

Pump it out. It just isn’t worth the risk of running contaminated fuel through an otherwise good engine. Even at today’s prices.

You can buy a simple siphon or a hand pump at Menards or Harbor Freight to pump the fuel into cans. I’ve done this to several boats, it just takes a little patience.

I don’t know if this makes any difference or not but I have always hooked the boat up and taking it for a little drive to agitate the fuel tank. My theory is that any Gunk that’s on the bottom of the tank will be sloshed around and will pump out more completely.

Get it out, drain the carbs, put a new fuel filter in. Check integrity of fuel lines while at it. Put in fresh gas and enjoy.

If it is 3 years old I would get it out somehow and start fresh. I would dispose of the gas and not use it in anything. JMO

    How does it run?
You ran and test drove it first before buying right?

Test drove? We still have 3’ of ice! I bought it from a friend who put minimal hours on it. 2-stroke tiller yammy 75hp. 1998 lund pro-v. It has t been out of the garage in 3 yrs. Drained all fuel today, lower unit fluid change, and new fuel lines/bulb. I have more work to do prior to firing it up.

Change fuel filters. After disposing of old fuel

while doing lines might also be prudent to install water seperating fuel filter between tank and engine….dramatically increases engine fuel filter life on old engines like that.
