John that’s exactly what I was talking about about. I wouldn’t name the lake if it was a small one witness or not. I’d pick tonka LOL

3rivers that is pretty sweet. How big were they? Never caught one.

The problem with lying on a government form is its illegal. Also, what happens if some day in the future someone challenges you to a lie detector test or to squash some rumors that you lied? Best to tell the truth.

If the lake is more important than the fish, don’t submit the record.

Seems this guy is not too concerned about either. That’s his call.

There are rumors that if you submit a fish for the state record book they take a scale sample or something for genetic testing- pretty much looking at why this fish got so big (big fish genes). Wonder what happens if they go to the lake you signed off on and the genetics don’t match up.

Maybe they don’t do this and its just rumors.

Or maybe Nolan already lied and it didn’t come out of that lake! Some people definitely don’t like him, just look at the musky tournaments that have kicked him out for using 5 livescopes lol.

You all know if you don’t post your big fish and the exact location on FB then you didn’t really catch it, right ?

Pics for those who don’t have FB or don’t care to click on links. The scale shot is money!

I was just curiously looking at other state panfish records. Minnesota’s record Bluegill is 2 lbs, 13 oz – from 1984. I don’t know how that one is EVER gonna fall…

Wonder if he tried to “revive” it for an hour before killing it for the record like he claimed happened with his Musky.

At least it’s harder to F up a crappie by holding its head in such an awkward position compared to its body like he’s doing with that muskie. Jeebus…

For me a fish that size has a more important genetic role in the water than on my wall or in a record book. But that’s just me.

As far as naming a lake, that doesn’t happen if I catch a large fish, except rough fish. I seldom take a picture of a large game-fish I’ve caught and post it anywhere on the internet unless it’s a major league sized body of water…. like Lake Pepin and even then, I try to avoid landmarks in the background.

A friend and I were fishing some open shoreline water one winter day and each of us caught crappies that were absolute slobs, my personal best crappie as well as his, from a water that was the least likely, in my opinion, to ever have crappies of that size let alone in the middle of town. Both fish went back in the drink and to this day I have not been back to that spot to fish and I don’t think my buddy has either. I have never elaborated on the location. And this was 25 years ago.
