Anyone get any hands on with new models for this year yet? Thoughts, opinions, etc?

I’m looking to move away from my quickfish 3i for the new quickfish 3hd, for the nice increase in footprint and the full size entry door. I really do want to see one in person though, not sure if I’ll wait until the ice show or not.

I’ll be listing my 3i for sale here soon, in the classifieds as well, keep an eye out it’ll be priced to move!

Nothing new for me this season, I have to much crap the way it is. But the 3hd is on sale at scheels right now for 299.
Wasn’t sure if you seen that yet or not.

The HD versions are great the no trip door is great. Mainly for my old man who just has a tough time walking in and out of the fish house.

The full door sounds awesome. I wont be getting anything new since I havent been using the stuff I already have much. My son now works at Scheels so if he decides to buy something for himself he will get an impressive discount. He wanted to get some fancy new bow and I told him to just get my string replaced and use mine. Its pretty close to as fast as the new stuff and shoots very flat.

BC, thanks for the heads up! I’ll check their site and pull the trigger on that this week!

I definitely hear you guys about not using stuff; I re-evaluated before last ice season and got rid of tons of stuff that I wasn’t putting to good use anymore, including my otter cabin. Now that my son is getting to the age where I can take him, I’m ready to upgrade the shack. I’ve owned so many shacks I can’t even believe it when I look back, but I always fall back on my quickfish when I want to maximize size to carry weight ratio.

I also camp in my shack at least 1-2 times every year and the quickfish just barely satisfies the space I’m looking for when putting a cot in it. The 3HD seems to add about 30% floor space so I think it’ll be exactly what I’m looking for.

My buddy camps in his Otter Resort hub quite a bit and let me tell you he does not pack light. He is typically solo when he does this so not sure how it would handle multiple people doing this I would imagine 2 would be fine. I have this same hub and only used it twice. I actually have his old one since he upgraded. Not sure why he bought a new one since this one is insulated, maybe something else changed but I havent been paying attention since I am not looking to add anything.
My 18 year old uses my stuff all the time. So it does get used, just not much by me. I look around my garage and I need a dumpster to just toss stuff that is taking up space. I finally got the boat in storage and have the extra car under the deck for the winter so its not a used car lot outside anymore.

Flirting with the idea of getting a Quickfish 3HD as an upgrade to my 3. I wish these no trip doors were around when I started off 20 years ago. I prefer the blackout interior of the 3 over the gray on the 3HD, however, so then I go back to thinking about the Outbreak 450XD Blackout as an option instead.

Looks like both Amazon and L&M Fleet also have them on sale for $299 right now. L&M said free shipping

The Stormshield fabric on the XD models are much better than the IQ fabric.

Stormshield looks nice, it’s just their more insulated version right?

I learned after owning a few otters, the “regular” level of insulation is good for me. The pro was overkill and the added weight wasn’t worth it for me.

The Stormshield is a better insulation layering without the mal-effect of the pin hole weld stitching of which the IQ material relies on. Plus it has a better water resistance coating on the outside that beads off the wet snow or rain snow if the weather is above 32F temperature. Skirt material has some polyurethane coating so it also resist ice freeze in better.

I’m thinking about investing in a “no trip door” hub house.
Do you need to install anchors at the door for it to work?

I just set my quickfish 3hd up in the garage yesterday, and no door anchors needed from what I can tell. It does come with 6 anchors, but only two guy lines (thanks Eskimo lol).

This doesn’t appear to be advertised but there are two tent poles included which slide into pockets on either side of the door running vertically from ceiling to floor. I’m guessing I’ll only use these in a high wind condition, but it certainly adds stability to that door frame area.

No , and you don’t necessarily need the tent poles either unless the winds blowing . If the winds blowing though and your trying to cheat it – don’t put the wind so it’s hitting at the no trip door otherwise it’ll blow it inwards and flip up the skirt and what not . I have the Eskimo 250xd. I like the shack but honestly for the type of fishing I like to do I’d rather have a lighter 2 man pop up . Not the biggest ice fishing fan after fishing the river .

You’ll love the full door. If you want to go bigger maybe the 949iG ill never get a black interior again I don’t spear and the grey makes your light go so much further. I’m planning on getting rid of my 949i for a flip over this year I’ve got the 850XD for family trips want something a bit easier for solo

I have the Clam X400 with the Max Entry door system. I like that I can still bank right up to the door without it hindering getting in and out. I fish with one in a wheel chair with no issues using it. Goes up fast as well.
