Hey guys I am having trouble deciding what to do but think I know at the same time. I think I want to get into some Garmin units but I don’t understand the difference between them all. I would like to get into 2 new 7″ models for the best value. I want maps included.

Or I might want hummingbirds… Thinking of Helix 7’s but can’t decide which combination to there too. Do I go with G2N with a chip or 2 G2’s and 2 chips? DI, SI, sonar, GPS what combination for the 2 units.

Thats a confusing couple things but I would greatly appreciate the help.

In Garmin terms to get the LakeVu HD map, it is the 73sv….the 72sv only has the basemap on it. I am not sure on the Echomaps and map sharing as I have the GPSMap units so I do assume you can get one with the lakeVU HD map and one without and network them together, hoping someone can confirm this.

This is what your looking for with ducer
    echoMAP™ CHIRP 73sv
    With Transducer
    PART NUMBER: 010-01802-01

    echoMAP™ CHIRP 72cv
    Without Transducer
    PART NUMBER: 010-01570-00

Also when your looking, if you can, make sure you get a GT52 transducer it is a world of difference and a super long story that has been hashed out on the interwebs already.

I’ve found the HD maps on the Garmin not very good compared to Nav + which I have on my phone and compare with my Garmin often.

The mapping feature is awesome but you need it to fix all your straight lines on the garmin hd maps.

Bigger more popular lakes aren’t as bad such as leech, mille lacs, etc. But the smaller ones IMO they took all the maps out there from other companies, threw em through a straight line application and called er good. Bad enough no other map company would sue them, but good enough to pass off as a mapping feature.

I usually find after my maps have been updated through the quickdraw they look more like the LM or Nav maps.
