New Enhanced Mn Drivers Lic(WARNING)

Recently I decided to get the enhanced drivers lic, it can be used for land and water crossing of borders. I have received said lic. However because of poorly planned security features on the lic card, there is NOT ENOUGH ROOM for endorsements. Dropped from my card are Firearms(cannot purchase a hunting lic without, a new replacement card 5.00$). My old instructors card may(not) be readable, did not matter with old lic. Snowmobile endorsement was on old lic(no room on new) have to get one re-issued–5.00$. Seems like this state(run by Dems mostly for many years) continues to be managed at about a 5th grade level. You have been warned once again.

Under this administration the $5.00 will be the least amount you will ever spend.

The fact you need a firearms “endorsement” to begin with is ridiculous. Wow

You need a “firearm safety” endorsement in order to purchase a hunting license. I don’t really find it ridiculous to require hunters to have some basic safety training.

Mine has all the lingo for firearms too, not that we should actually need it ……since it is our constitutional right to keep and bear arms ! silly demoncrats! Vote them out and stop the stupidity !!

I don’t have anything that says firearms on my license and they sell me hunting licenses. Maybe I’m “grandfathered” in or something?

I believe the cut off was if you were born before 1980 or 1979 you don’t need to take a firearm safety course to get a hunting license. Not sure if it has anything to do with purchasing a gun.

I had to provide a copy of my birth certificate to renew my Class A license. I did that but just received a form letter stating that I need to provide two forms of ID to prove my citizenship! No explanation for why they rejected my birth certificate & current license. Now I’m looking forward to another 2 hours waiting in line. I was born in Edina & have had a Class A for 30 years. Now they want to give illegal aliens licenses! Ridiculous.

I’m assuming this was a joke post otherwise you need to know that having a firearms safety certificate has nothing to do with your “constitutional right” to keep and bear firearms. doah

I was born prior to the time where one is required to have a firearms safety certificate. I have also had a CDL for nearly 30 yrs & got my first carry permit just a couple years later.

When I went to renew my license this year, I had my current DL, my birth certificate, my valid passport & since I lost my SS card, I had to provide a copy of my property tax statement!

Let the illegals walk back home.

Yeah, I believe if you were born before ’79, you aren’t required to have it.

I think there is some confusion about the difference between purchasing a firearm and the requirement for firearms safety. You don’t need to take a firearms safety class to purchase a firearm – that is your second amendment right. However, if you want to hunt, and you were born prior to 1980 (not sure of the exact date and year), you will need firearms safety training. Not having firearms safety training does not stop you from buying a firearm – you can go do that as you please as long as you pass the required background checks.

I have the Enhanced Driver’s License. Everyone is eventually going to need one so you might as well get in line sooner rather than later.

I have the new enhanced license as well and immediately noticed the lack of endorsements. I called them to say they missed the endorsements on my new ID and they said that if the ID is scanned all endorsements appear. Just what I was told, havent proven it to be true however.

License doesn’t have endorsements printed. Blame illegal immigrants. Seems logical coffee

My new enhanced MN CDL has endorsements listed on the back.

I was born in ’95. I took hunter safety in ND where I grew up. Now living in MN with a ‘standard’ MN lic with no endorsements listed on ID. Never had an issue buying any sort of hunting/fishing license. Am I beating the system? Or do they have it on file maybe?

It is very easy to get a “standard” driver’s license or ID card in Mn. If you don’t have a valid photo ID or document with name/date of birth, all you need is a social security card. I have a friend who scraps cars, he has found dozens of SS cards, often several in a vehicle. He has contacted various government offices about the cards, never had a reply. Now he burns them. The absence of the firearms endorsement on my driver’s license, may also be an issue when purchasing out of state hunting licenses. The license bureau told me I had to call the DNR, they(DNR) couldn’t even find my firearms instructor status. I have to call Camp Ripley today. All of this is to allow non citizens(Minnesota) to vote in local(state) elections.

Right? The main question is did they get their internet whiner and pseudo-political nonsense endorsements. mrgreen

So logical in fact that I hear this will be a big talking point and key pillar for Trumps 2020 campaign.

Edit- this just in Mexico has agreed to pay to fix MNLARS

I took hunters safety in ND during college, but live in MN. I remember showing it the first time I bought a license but never since. I always figured they had it on a digital file?

Your firearms safety number got plugged in when you bought your first license. Back when, it was the same as your driver’s license number. Remember though that all our license numbers changed a dozen or so years ago so your firearm safety number may not be your license number any more (mine isn’t).

Them “being able to look it up” is all fine and dandy in MN, however traveling out of state or out of the country to hunt, you’ll need to prove your firearm/hunters safety certificate. I have used the endorsement on the back of my license to prove that. Other locations are not going to have the ability to look that up, nor is the desk clerk going to go thru that hassle for you.

You can get a new one printed from a license agent for I think $3, if they have it on file (sorry MJM)

Man, this is my type of topic!

Can we get to the root cause of this issue? So far I have:

    Dems
    them illegals

as causes/people to blame. I’d like to throw in:

    vaccinations
    pro-choicers
    Obama
    snowflake liberals
    socialists
    LGBTQ community

into the mix. Once we get at least three from the lower list, I think this is destined for a spotlight story on Fox News tonight.

Just so I have this right though, I have heard from my very reliable and definitely factual news source/president that illegal immigrants are rapists, thieves and drug dealers. I’ve also heard that they are stealing all our jobs. Now I’m hearing that they are causing MN residents trouble on license renewals.

So let me put it all together, these illegal immigrants are dealing drugs/raping people, which is taking away work for us, so there is less of a market for red white and blue blooded Americans to…sell drugs? In addition, they are making it harder for me to get a proper driver’s license.

I can see why everyone’s riled up, them illegals are really screwing everything up!

Illegal immigrants’ meth just isn’t the same as that cooked right here in good ole’ MN. I also heard the illegals are forcing law-abiding doctors from the US of A to overwrite prescriptions for opiates to fuel a drug problem that is in no way, shape, or form a problem of the American people.

Edit: Hillary has to somehow be added to the list of reasons for the shortcomings of the MN Licensing process as well.

My ID has never had a firearm endorsement and I was born after the cutoff…Just a snowmobile endorsement. Never been hassled by a license agent (most have no idea anyways), nor an out of state license purchase. I always just show a current resident license of some sort and that is satisfactory (at least in ND, SD and WI…).

However, I do carry my volunteer firearm safety instructor card with me, but not the actual firearm safety card (no idea where that went when I was 11…)
