Saw this on the news this morning. I could care less politically why it got proposed, but the first thing I saw was how awesome it would be for hunting and fishing! It would be a sportsmen’s dream with the added pheasant, duck, mule deer, antelope, etc. with no out-of-state BS. LOL Were do I sign????

What would be the new state name? New Dakota, South Minnkota…

This would be the greatest thing ever! Let these Hennepin County morons keep making these ridiculous decisions for a whole state that doesn’t support it. Works out great for the welfare side to still be blue. Finally would have a governor i could agree with.

This would save me money as I wouldn’t need a 4th fishing license every year.

    It’s a real bill! https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bills/bill.php?b=house&f=HF2423&ssn=0&y=2021

Reps Jeremy Munson (just south of Mankato) and Cal Bahr (Ham Lake/East Bethel) are the authors. It would be interesting to see a study on the financial impacts on the counties that would stay vs the counties that would go.

Obviously this is a joke to just try and prove a point that outstate MN cannot stand to be held to the same restrictions, etc as the metro areas, but this would NEVER happen.
The tax dollars alone that are allocated for outstate for road work alone would be catastrophic. I saw a map of the state with the proportion of each county’s + or – contribution to road repairs. Counties with a + were ones getting more money than paying and the – ones were the ones paying for area and then outstate. It basically looked like the map from this bill. LOL

You’ll miss our lakes when we add that outstate MN wakeboard board tax! rotflol I saw Kristi Noem retweeted with a welcome message. Which is a lot more than Rocks and Cows Walz has done for the outstate in the last year. Just need to find a way for them to include Carver County too. jester

Obviously this has no chance of doing anything, but it does speak to the growing polarization in outstate vs metro. A huge portion of the state has virtually no influence or real actual representation anymore, and the Dems (particularly metro Dems) won’t even address Walz’ unconstitutional executive powers. No one man of any party should have unilateral control, particularly for this long. That should have bipartisan support to return to a representative government, but most are so entrenched into their “team” winning, they have no problem with it.

There are fun haters everywhere. I think its hilarious, but also ridiculous at the same time to waste time and effort putting something like this together. Hopefully they did it on a lunch break. There needs to be accountability against stupid legislation and this is just one of a VERY lengthy list of ones our elected officials waste time and our tax dollars on. I mean in good faith these guys are representing their districts, but they know full well this will never happen. As has been said Walz has used the EO for far too long. 2 weeks to slow the spread yet here we are what 54 weeks in?

If you saw half the stuff proposed by the legislature each year you’d fill your pants if you think this is bad.

Anyway the two authors are using a page out of the other party’s play book by proposing something that people may see as outlandish. It’s meant to provoke discussion and bring light to the fact that outstate people are sick of the Twin Cities running roughshod over them.

X2 – I’ll add my .02 before this one gets dusted. We have come to the point in not only Minnesota but in all the US where its major metro areas controlling elections and thus controlling the decision making. There is a reason why the Democratic party puts their focus on metro areas. If they can get the metro votes they can win the states. Its also a easier sell to MOST metro area residents what they are selling – I’ll leave it at that.

As a guy from Iowa, whose favorite state is South Dakota, but spends a fair amount of time in Minnesota, I would be very happy to see it happen. Maybe then I could become comfortable with owning property in western MN. As of now, I cannot convince myself that I should look to buy a place up there. For now it’s a great place to visit, and rent.
