After some time I finally took possession of a new to me Dominator 175. Spent most of last weekend rigging and getting it ready. However did get to take a spin for a couple hours on Sunday. Everything checked out great and looking forward to using it next season.

    Specs
    2013 w/39 hours
    Terrova iPilot and Link
    Added an Onix 8si
Yamaha 115 – WOW this this is quiet and starts right away
37 on the gps, 41 on the speedo

Looks like I’ll keep the old through the winter and sell it when people get really excited for spring. Wish I didn’t have to part with it, so a little bittersweet.

I really want a Dominator. Surprised the 115 only gets you to 37. Whats the max rating on that boat?

Definitely some great pics there. New boat looks absolutely awesome!!

We over here really reminisce of our first alumacraft quite a bit as well, think its great you got both together. Even though not as big or beefy those firsts were great rigs.

    Cheers toast toast toast

Very nice upgrade! I have the same motor and love it. That rig should serve you well for many years!

    Congrats!

Beautiful boat, you will love that yamaha. I fish year round and never winterized it since 2010. And never had a problem with it one bit. Just remember to use that ring free plus additive for yamaha.

150hp is the max. Would really fly with that. I intentionally stayed at the 115. Kept the overall price lower. Easier on fuel for Ontario trips where resupply is far from convenient. Research said I should hit 40 but not real concerned.

Did lots of homework but there was still a happy dance when I was able to fit it into my very short garage here in the cities. Now I’m starting to think about more metro fishing. Maybe taking up musky fishing after work devil Lots of other dreaming too.

Will add a dc charger next year and maybe do an led project too.

I had even an older Lunker and one year ago Sat, I got my 17′ Lund Explorer. Another BIG move up. I love my new boat, but the old one served me very well also. Enjoy your new rig.

Im not someone obsessed with speed. Id glady take a dominator with a 115 was just surprised it didn’t hit 40 but I bet there is a way to get there. Enjoy the boat I really think they are one of the better boats Alumacraft has made.

Even as winter approaches, it’s hard not to get a little new boat feeling in a persons gut after seeing your photos!

Did you get to play with the trim at all on it?

After all the prop, tilt/trim threads I’ve read on here still took a few outings to play with mine. Completely different boat and ride after its trimmed properly. Coming from a good ol tiller just didn’t come to mind right away, taking everything else in I suppose.

What size prop is on there? I’ll most likely be prop shopping next year but for now have a 14×17 and a 13×19 aluminums we could interchange if adaptable. Let me know next spring.

Yes and I needed that to get to 37. Miss having a trim gauge like our runabout.

Good question, didn’t look. Will invest real time into this next season.

    Where’s the ski pole?

Right there in the garages attached to the 20ft glass boat with the much bigger motor jester Partly why I could choose a smaller motor on this one. Dad’s boat is still running fantastic.

Nice rig! I was looking long and hard at a Dominator, they’re nice boats. You should be able to get 40 out of that. Looks like an aluminum prop, maybe a SS prop will get you there.

I have heard, not positive it’s true but I’m pretty sure, Pike especially Canadian Pike (eh!) have a built in fear of Dominators. I think they avoid those boats like the plague. Might need to hit the weights this winter to increase your casting distance. You will need to toss that spoon over 75 yards and closer to 100 yards to reach those previously easy to catch Pike. whistling

You will love that dominator. I bought a 2014 in September and have used it quite a bit since. Couldn’t be happier. Mine has the mercury 150 though, so comparing motors is irrelevant. With a 3 blade stock aluminum prop I top out at 48 mph trimmed up.
