I’m hearing from a friend who has been looking to buy a boat that Lund, Crestliner, Ranger, and Warrior are not accepting orders for new boats now until September 2021.

Yeah this isn’t really news. And it’s not limited to just those companies. All of them are way behind on orders because of demand.

This is the same thing with boats as it is with hard shacks, pontoons, atvs, side x sides and all sorts of stuff

Are they not accepting orders or not expecting to have them in until then? My buddy ordered a new Lund on Saturday and they told him he’ll have it in July.

I was told by my dealer that an order can be altered for a specific boat that has been ordered for dealer stock, However the model cannot be changed, only the options. And the motor cannot be changed either. A boat ordered with a 90 for stock cannot be changed to a 115 for example.

I am not sure if is true everywhere. I only heard the complaining from a friend who was trying to place a customized order for one at a dealer in MN. But as others have already mentioned the demand is sky high so its quite possible.

It’s a combination of demand along with the lack of parts due to Covid shutdowns. I saw several boat transporters while on my drive last week, but not nearly what you would think for this time of year.

Different terminology and how you perceive that information……

Accepting orders has not changed but time frame has….. Typically ordering a boat now would get you in to the opener time frame….
For many many reasons it would be extremely rare for that to happen this year unless in was a previous ordered dealer stock boat already in que…

This is not specific to any one brand or industry andmore common than most folks realize….

Can anyone answer , “what is normal” today ???????

We just bought a boat and every dealer only had what they had ordered. Thankfully one dealer had a boat that was still available for customization so we were able to get what colors and features we wanted from the dealer.

From what we were told, you can order a boat though you won’t get it until late summer or early fall

I just ordered a new Alumacraft. The dealer said that he had only a certain number of “slots” available to order from the factory, and once they were gone, your on your own. They thought my boat would be ready late March early April.

    Not true.

Complaining about the lack of normality is now completely normal.

I ordered my new alumacraft last week and could pick my color and options including motor but it was only because the dealer already had them on order from last year and mine should be in March/April. What I found out with alumacraft was if the dealer has any on order from earlier or in stock you could still get a 2021 otherwise new orders would be for 2022 and you probably wouldn’t get it until September.
