I agree, I have a 2.5-8 on my 30-06, which I love! However, I also have the 3.5-10 on a 243 win of mine and I like that scope, too. Figured if the OP was going to take his rifle out for other things, like coyote or antelope, perhaps the 3.5-10 might be a good option.

This rifle will be used for a bunch of different hunts. That’s kind of why I’m looking at buying something that will be a great all around set up . Thank you guys for all the knowledge.

Thanks crappie. I’m going to wait till after the holiday to start shopping. And I’m definitely hoping to stay away from the black stock.

Any reason to look in to any other caliber over a good old all around .270

No, is the simple answer. No reason to overthink it.

Never in the history of firearms have there been more available and overlapping chamberings to get a deer-sized animal dead. Just off the top of my head, I can count 14 commercially available chamberings between 6 MM/.243 and 6.8 MM/.270 and I’m probably not getting them all. Even before the 6.5 craze, there was plenty of overlap. Now there is overlap overlapping the overlap.

For the hunter who buys his ammo off the shelf, it still pays IMO to keep things simple and stick with a cartridge that offers a wide range of different loadings made by different producers.

I stopped at cabelas tonight and held a t3x superlite camo cabelas special edition camo stock. A t3x light, and just basic t3x.

The kid wasn’t very helpful at all explaining the differences, but what are the differences between the 3. Besides a very noticeable weight difference. Amazing what half a pound does in a rifle.
They didn’t have any besides 1 left hand .270 but I could order one

I’d stick to the tried and true 270 . I have a 7 rem mag and have shot buddies 300 win mags , I didn’t think I was recoil sensitive but the groupings on paper show different .

I notice Reeds has a sale going on rifles and scopes if you purchase both. Might be worth checking out.

Have you made you purchase(s) yet? Just wondering what you ended up putting together. Had I noticed the post back in December, I would have suggested to up the Tikka model or throw a Boyds on it. I put one on a 270win T3 Lite, and I should have never let it go. It was paired with a simple VX-II 3-9×40 and shot .75 MOA with multiple brands.
I’ve also had a T3 Hunter with a walnut stock. It carried great!
Recently though, I got my hands on a T3 Roughtech with a factory muzzle brake. It’s a threaded barrel so you can swap to a suppressor or shoot it straight up. The Roughtech stock feels MUCH better than the light. The bolt is a little different, but I find I prefer it. The larger-balled handle seemed awkward at first, but after a day working with it, I realized that it felt even smoother to me, which is quite a feat when talking about Tikka actions. If you’re heading west, I wouldn’t be afraid of going 4-14 on a scope and still covering Midwest hunts.

But… have you made your choice yet?
