2010 Nebraska Walleye Trail Promises to be the Best Season to Date

We had a great year in 2009, but 2010 promises to be even more exciting with the changes that have been made. We have scheduled the 2010 tournaments to help cut down on time away from home and travel costs, as anglers can fish the entire circuit and state championship (5 tournaments) and only have to make 4 trips. The NWT has teamed up with the surrounding states to bring the first regional championship to Nebraska for our top 25 anglers.

The NWT also gives our top anglers the opportunity to qualify for the 2011 Cabela’s NTC, and we have also again scheduled around the Cabela’s NTC dates for this year.

Highlighting the 2010 season will be 4 regular season qualifying Tournaments (2 one day events, 2 two day events)

State Championship Qualifier at Merritt Reservoir (to qualify teams must fish in 3 regular season tournaments) *10$ will be added from each regular season entry to the 100% entry fee pay out championship- ( if we average 60 teams in each tournament and 50 teams fish the championship the total payout would be $7400 to the top placing teams.)

Regional Championship Qualifier (to qualify for this tournament teams must finish in the top 25 in season points, counting each teams top 3 tournaments) See the Regional’s link for complete details.

Team of the Year, Chargers of the Year, Locators of the Year, Top Ten Awards (Anglers that finish in the top ten in points will be awarded cash and prizes at the awards banquet at the end of the season. The last 2 seasons we have averaged paying back over $10,000 to the anglers)

2011 Cabela’s National Team Championship Qualifying Circuit (the top teams will be invited to this tournament in 2011.)

Our goal is to make the Nebraska Walleye Trail the ultimate experience for the anglers. The NWT is working very hard to create larger purses, to increase the number of sponsors, to add more prizes and to provide new opportunities for our teams.

    2010 Regional Walleye Championship

The Colorado Walleye Association, Kansas Walleye Association, Nebraska Walleye Trail, and the Wyoming Walleye Stampede are proud to announce the first annual Regional Walleye Championship to be held at Lake McConaughy, on Saturday, July 31st and Sunday August 1st, 2010. This prestigious, high paying event is an invitation only Tournament.

Teams that finish in the top 25 in each circuit in 2010 will qualify to fish the 2010 Regional Championship Tournament. Make sure you sign-up to fish one of these four circuits in 2010 to qualify. Walleye Central will have their live Leader Board covering this event!

There will be a youth fishing clinic held in conjunction with this event on Saturday evening. There will also be hundreds of dollars in door prizes given out at the Championship rules meeting and dinner.

If only I had the time and skill and luck to fish something like this. I know some of the guys and gals that fish that tourney. They tell me that’s there real fun to fish. Good luck to all.
