Be sorting/cleaning equipment. The Lund is in the shop getting the once/twice over. Next week will head to Gavins.

I’ll spend a few hours getting the gear tuned up on Saturday and Sunday I get to hit the Missouri River for some early ‘eye action!

Have fun down south Zach! Looks like it’s going to be a beautiful weekend!

I got out this afternoon with Jake in his new boat and had a blast. Caught a few cats. I’m getting up early tomorrow to get the boat cleaned up. Then I’m heading to the lake to try to find some eyes.

Good luck to everyone this weekend!

I spent Friday night mounting my new Lowarance LCX27C. I had to buy a Ram mount to make it fit under the console but I am very pleased with it. I then took my old depth finder and mounted it in the front of the boat with the transducer on the trolling motor. Took the boat out this morning and it started right away. The GPS locked on immediately. Went around the lake for a little while and noticed no water coming out the back of the motor Decided to shut it down and use the trolling motor. Managed to catch a few Crappies. Water temp was 39.5 degrees. I need to get the motor checked out now.

Before you take it in, Chad, you might put it in the driveway, hook up the water and see if you can fix it yourself. Take the cowling off and take the hose off the outlet nozzle and see if any water comes out. There’s been more than a few times when I’ve had mud or gravel plugging up that little nozzle. I took off the hose, water was flowing, so I cleaned the nozzle out and away we went. I hope that’s all you have to do too, and it’s not in the water pump housing.

Great suggestion Brian. It could turn out to be a real easy fix. Another thing to try is some week wacker string. You can run the string right up there and you will feel it hitting sand or a small rock. If it doesn’t knock it loose just measure how far the string went in before it got stuck and then you’ll know where to take the hose apart. Worse case senario you may be due for a new impeller. These can be done yourself if you have a little mechanical skills.

Thanks Brian and Ben. When the engine was running, I put my hand in front of where the water comes out and it was blowing warm air. So I don’t know if it’s actually blocked or not. Is it possible the thermostat wasn’t opening up? I might try to flush the cooling system. On the back of my outboard, there is a garden hose hook up that flushes it out. I probably should get the motor checked out anyway. When I winterized it, the lower unit drained quite a bit of clear water before the oil came out For now, I am planning on taking it to Mercman in NE City. He said he can look at it Friday night. I’ve heard good things about him. For future reference, who are some other mechanics around Omaha/Gretna that I could trust?

I learned that from Jon Jordan right here on IDO.

Chad- just in case you wanted to replace the impeller yourself. Impeller replacement post.

I did my 225 Evinrude by following this post. It was a 6 pack of beer and it was done. Probably saved me $200 by doing it myself.

Oh, one more thing Chad. You may want to ask in the Gen. Disc. forum for advise on your motor. There are a few guys up north that may have a pretty good idea of what is wrong.

I have a small plug I put in mine when not in use. Seems that the local wasps like to build their homes in it. One more thing to remember every time I go out.

Thank You guys! I pulled the boat out this morning and tried the weed wacker wire. Right away, it had some resistence. Looked like a little pebble. I couldn’t get it out with the wire so I unhooked the hose and tried blowing some air through it to force it out. That made it get stuck even more. Finally hooked up the compressor and shot some more air through it and it came out like a BB gun. Good thing I didn’t have the car behind the boat, probably would of shot the window out Anyway, hooked up the muffs and the boat was pissing pretty good So then I decided to goto Wherspann to try it out, worked great For the effort, the fish gods rewarded me with 3 walleyes, 1 catfish and 2 Crappies
    Thanks again!!!

Great new Chad. Some dealers out there would have told you it was the water pump. Keep 2-3 feet of that weed wacker line in your glove box of the boat. You never know when you’ll need it again.

Awesome. Was better than pulling it all the way down south just to get that fixed, eh??
