Has anybody tried to catch any catfish at Harlan yet? Would like to give it a try in a couple weeks. The west end used to be the best.

I would bet money that the cats are snapping. Hit the wind blown side of the lake with some freshly picked Shad gizzards and it should be on. I’ll be hitting a few of the Lincoln area lakes with this presentaion over the next couple of weeks.

I haven’t been down there since April, but with the higher water, I would imagine finding a few places to fish from shore might be kinda tough, with all the new stuff on the west end. Finding some of those cats in a boat might be the ticket, and I’ll be they’ll be down there in force right about now too. Let us know how ya do.

Should I just go and buy shad from Walmart or what if I am targeting Cats?

I went out to catch some cats this last saturday around lincoln and ran into a lot of ice. Wagon Train was unfishable and we didn’t have much luck at Stagecoach fishing a small patch of open water. If you head out to Harlan, you shouldn’t have to buy shad. The lake shore should be loaded with dead ones. This warm weather the next couple of days should open the lakes up.

This time of year you need to start with bait #1: shad gizzards. 95% of the time, it’ll be the only thing you need for cats in spring.

You’re right. I should have been there last saturday. It could’nt have been as bad as the horse races.
