I made it out to Wyoming for the holiday weekend. My wife and I rode out with my sister, brother inlaw, niece, and nephew. We made it to my parents house friday night and got to bed early. My nephew Trevor, brother inlaw Gary, my dad, and myself got up early on Sat. to go elk hunting. My dad has a elk tag and this was opening day for the Wyoming bow season. We headed up the mountain long before the sun came up and had an elk answer our call but it’s a little too early in the season to have them come running. After 4 hours of tip toeing through the woods we decided to head back to town and grab the boat. We headed out to Finley Reservoir to catch trout. Fishing was good with everyone having a chance to catch several trout.
Here are some pics of a few.

Gary with his first ever trout. It took Gary a while to finally land one. We always knock the barbs off our hooks and Gary had several hook ups that would rocket out of the water and spit the hook. It got to be awful funny after he had 3 or 4 come off.

The biggest trout of the weekend was caught by my nephew Trevor. He was sure to let us all know who had the big fish of the weekend.

Congrats on a huge trout Trev.

Here’s a pic of all of us on our way home. This was taken on the top of Snowy Range at Marie Lake.

I think I’m going to try to get an antelope permit for next year. These things are everywhere.

We were throwing black and gold Panther Martin spinners. In a couple of weeks when the water cools down a few more degrees it will be time to break out the fly rods. I sure wish I could make it back out for that and the elk in full rut.
