Camped at Rockford over Memorial weekend. Fishing sucked with the muddy water but the relitives had fun play’n with the boat.

Also went to Burchard hope’n to find something biting which turned out much better. The kids had fun with all the little crappie and Grandpa had a ball with the bass. Unlike Rockford where you’re lucky to have 6″ visibility its more like 4 foot there. The water’s high but no silt at Burchard. Was a nice little place to fish.

Did Burchard look full? I thought I head they drained it some to do some work on the dam.

    Thanks for the report.

I’ve never been on the lake till last weekend but I’d say its about as full as it can get. There’s flooded grass all around the shore line, an open space where it may have been down, and then a band of weeds out to 8-10 foot around most of the lake where there must have always been water.

Right now there’s an outside weedline to fish, a nice inside weedline, and some great shoreline cover flooded with a couple feet of water. Nice thing about it was how clean it still was. Must be 4 or 5 foot visibility and with the trophy limit on bass there, it was a kick catch’n those along with piles of little crappie to keep the kids busy when they tired of Grandpas bass fish’n.

    A nice little lake.

Thanks for the info. I’ll be fishing down there in a couple weeks with Joe Duggan.

As far as I know the dam still has a leak. It may have had a leak for a long time. Last year the drought finally caught up. There is enough water coming into the lake and has been as full pool for some time now. Hopefully the leak in the over flow is allow less water out than what is coming in.

That is one of if not the best bass fishing lake in the state. Almost every trip down there produces a 21″+ or two for someone in my boat. The fish in my avatar was just over 22″.
