Went out this AM with my friend Mike to see if I could help him get a turkey. Made it out well before sun up and set up in the middle of a couple different roosting areas. After 2 hours and only hearing birds getting farther away we decided to head in so I could get to work. While walking back to the truck we had 2 small toms run right in front of us. We set the decoys down and headed to the closest trees and it only took about 10 minutes and we had 4 small toms in front of us with the decoys. They were puttin and just about to bolt when Mike dropped the largest of the 4. It was his first spring turkey and he was very excited. It only had a 4 inch beard but it was a tom turkey. I think Mike wants to get another one now. Lucky for us we can get 3 permits each in Nebraska this year. Now I have the itch bad to go try for one myself. Hopfully Monday evening I can get out to try to get one for the smoker.

Looks good, Ben! This turkey looks a lot better than the last one you and I saw together, I’m sure of that!

I almost forgot about that one. I’ll have to put a pic up when I get home.
