Hopefully I’ll be able to make it. Daryl is a great guy with a wealth of knowledge on all species of fish in Nebraska.

Good seeing you again Orion. I thought Daryl did a great job with his seminar. I always enjoy hearing what he has to say. There’s a lot of little things to learn from a biologist that you may not normally associate with catching walleyes.

What did he say about “fizzing”?

Same to you Ben. It was also good to meet a few other faces from the old forum as well. Layne, we will definatley have to hook up this year. Maybe between the three of us we can figure out something with those B.O. Wipers . Definatley shoot somed quacking ,clucking winged creatures as well.

Essentially he said ,Yeah you can do it, but would ony recommend it if the fish was grossly bloated and it was obvious the fish would not survive otherwise. ie. cant swim upright, dive, stomach pushed way out through the mouth etc. Not necessary on many trout and catfish species as they can “burp” it out. Thats what I got out of it anyways. Anyone else can correct me if I misunderstood.

Might I add, only “fizz” a fish if you are sure how to do so. Improper “fizzing'” has a very high fatality rate.

Good point Jason! I practiced on several eyes that were heading to the frying pan before I tried it on a tournament fish. Any time you are sticking a needle in there you risk damaging their internal organs.
