You guys probably knew this already, but Shawn Watson is the new O-Coordinator. I think he’ll be great. He was very good at Colorado. They sure put a thumping on us in 2001 when he was there.

I like these words from Watson…

    Quote:

“Championships are won through running the ball and stopping the run,” he said. “That’s a test of a man’s will.”

Watson called essentially all the plays at Colorado as the Buffaloes showed flexibility in adapting to talent on hand. For instance, Colorado featured a punishing ground attack in 2001 — the Buffaloes buried the Huskers 62-36 thanks largely to 380 rushing yards — but became more passing-oriented in 2003, when they ranked 18th nationally at nearly 280 passing yards per game… You have to have creativity in using your talent,” Watson said. “Schematics and tactics are important, but it’s mostly driven by personnel.”

If Calli cuts him loose, I think we’ll see the ‘Skers pounding defenses into submission with the run, and then going deep on their arse with the PA pass more than we saw last year… A little less West Coast and a little more Midwest could lead to a lot more Ws for the boys in Crimson and Cream!

Well, in my opinion, they better get it going this fall, or else Callihan is going to be looking for a new career. Anyone else think this? I am not about jumping on a “firing bandwagon”, but you know how the Husker faithful can be. Can’t say I would blame them now.

I have given him every chance, believe me. If he doesn’t impress in 2007, I’d have no problem with a goodbye letter. I wanted him to succeed so badly, but I was disappointed in some of the game management this past season. I’m hopeful, but I’m a realist too.

On a positive note, the team looks to be solid!

Offensive Coordinator would connotate that the OC calls the plays.

At NU, Callahan, in fact calls the plays.

Therefore, we can call Watson the OC, but in reality he is something less.
