anyone know when the marine dealer in alma has there boat show.
Not sure. Hope I can make it down and stock up on Oil. Usually have a good deal on it.
Is he still in business? I ask because Buzz’s is now handling Alumacraft
I heard he was in a little trouble and nobody knew where he was at? I guess people were buying boats left and right because he was selling them so cheap and they never were mailed the titles like they were told. The banks sure don’t like that after they loan you the money. This is just what I had heard maybe someone could give us a few more details.
i was thinking of waconda boats, just couldn,t think of the name at the time, . the dealer i believe the rumors are about is still in buisness, talked to him a while back, about a new skeeter. we chatted about the rumors being said about his practices, people starting these rumors should be ashamed of them selves. my opinion, and based only to those spreading the news. he worked on my 10 hp merc and also my ranger last yr. did a great job, price wise, and quality wise. have had waconda do work also. and also good people, thanks al…..
I sure hoped those rumors weren’t true. Nebraskans are limited on good boat dealers as it is.
I’m not sure if Larry is still in business down in Alma or not. I haven’t been in there since 2000, mainly because I wasn’t happy with the way he was selling boats. He sure didn’t want to work with me. He tried to sell me a boat that he had on the lot, which was a model lower than what I head already decided on (which I eventually got brand new from another dealer). He wouldn’t listen to the words coming out of my mouth. I have, however, heard of a lot of other people who have been happy with him.
As for Rep City, it’s usually the 2nd weekend in March. I see from their web site at http://www.wacondaboats.com that the show is March 10th & 11th this year. That’s the place for the deal on oil….bring your own gallon jug and last year they filled it for $12/gallon, I believe it was.
larry , is still open. he also bought johnson lake marine, he,s made a lot of people happy in this area, he,s been very busy, up untill the storms have moved in anyway. al….
Yep hes still there been rumors about him for years some true some not just like any other boat dealer car dealer horse trader.Small towns they run out of things to talk about so they talk about the guy next door.If you want a alumacraft worth the money My dad is selling his. 18ft 150 merc so on
I don’t know how many dealers there are in Alma, but if it is the same one I’m thinking of I know a year or so ago that my dealer in Kansas was asked by Skeeter to purchase their remaining Skeeter Boats. I’m not going to say why, but I know he bailed them out.
Jason
jason, if he was bailed out, then i,m glad someone was there to help. talked to a dealer west of here, has champions, soon as he can move them he,s out of the boat business , , with the growing infux of people coming in this area, it,s getting to be a business mans dream, wages are 8 to 12.and doesn,t look to change, and more in the 8 to 9 area than the 12, it,s hard to spend $40,000 for a boat with that kind of an income, let alone make a living.
Before I bought my Smoker from Buzz’s I had a deal with him down there on an Alumacraft and then he quit talking to me. Wouldn’t return my calls, wouldn’t reply to e-mails and wouldn’t talk to me at the remaining shows I saw him at. Mike that helps him out was really disappointed with the way that I was treated. That was the last time I tried to and will try to do bussines with him. That is my $.02

Somehow I knew I wasn’t the only one he didn’t listen to. If he went out of business, I doubt I would notice.
