The bite is on at our SW resevoirs!! I just talked to my bestest bud Jeremy this morning and they killed the ‘eyes’, whites and kitties down at Swanson yesterday. They have been biting well for a few days now but they really went yesterday. I am sure that the same will hold true for Red Willow, Enders and other SW lakes. Good Luck!!!

How long a drive would that be Zach? We are planning on going this Sunday but just not sure where we want to go. Made some calls today and ice isn’t safe at the 15″ SLAB hole. We are planning on Sherman but if a hot bite is going and it isn’t over a couple hours away, we might change our minds!

Swanson, near Trenton, is 20 minutes west of McCook, so it is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Kearney.

We fished Sherman this week and really didn’t have much luck. This last time we fished out from the Trail 3 boat ramp. People had been catching some nice crappies there but the bite was REAL SLOW.

We are taking the trek to Alliance for the weekend. Hope to fish Smith and Box Butte.

Good luck at Sherman. So far this year the best two places have been on Trail 8 out towards Prarie Dog Town. A lot of holes out there so its not hard to find. The other place is off of the boat ramp on Trail 3. Again not hard to see where the fishing is taking place.

The white ice in the bays was measuring 12″ on Wednesday. Watch the blue ice towards the main lake. It was maybe 3″ on Wednesday but should be getting thicker. Its 7 degrees here and I’m certain that it will get colder yet.

Limits of eyes were cought on Swanson this weekend, aolng with numbers of whites, channels and wipers. My buddy caught his limit of ‘eyes’ as well as a number of other fish and a 3.5lb wiper to top it all off.
