More about Jason, in his own words… “Most of my earliest memories involve fishing. I grew up on a farm near Boelus, Nebraska. We live near the Loup River and had a creek running through our pasture that the NRD placed a dam across to make about a 7 acre lake. As long as I could remember every weekend my family, grandparents and aunts and uncles would come out and fish. As I grew older I would spend most of my time outdoor fishing or exploring around our farm. When I was about 13 or 14 I began subscribing to In-Fisherman and Bassmaster. By the time I was 15 all I wanted to do was be a professional angler, like what I saw in Bassmasters every weekend on TNN. Even as life grew busier in my later teens I still found time to go fishing. When I wasn’t playing sports or working our family would go fishing or hunting. For a while my Dad and I were members of the Central City Sportsman’s Club where we would fish in their lake and participate in the Trap Shooting League, which I won my division every year. Now I am working on a pro career as a bass angler. I participated at the club level for about 4 years. Then one year I fished 2 Bassmaster Tour Events as a co-angler and that kind of sealed the deal on my aspirations to become a pro angler. I fished the ABA for 2 years as well as the Bassmaster Series. This past year in the Bassmaster Series I qualified for the regional tournament, which gave me priority entry into the Bassmaster Opens. So I took advantage of that. For 2007 I will be fishing the Central Opens. I also participate in several charity tournaments each year. I guess I just have a passion for the outdoors. I take a couple backpacking trip each year in the Ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas. A couple of them have been along some great smallmouth rivers.
Welcome to In-DepthAngling’s Field Staff Jason! We’re thrilled to have you on-board to help round out our Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri forums!
