I’m guessing I had over 2 inches of rain at my house since Thursday. Now there’s 4 inches of snow on the ground and it’s still snowing HEAVY!!!!

Snow cover = colder temps = ice on the lakes! (We can hope!)

How much did we get out west?????

We got an inch of rain last night in central Iowa. Send the snow this way, the snow removal business really sucks here this year.

Here in between Lex and Kearney, we got hit pretty good. Lots of rain before the ice and snow. We didn’t really get a lot of snow, but it looks worse just because it drifted. But I would have to think we’ll have some sort of ice now….everything around here is pure ice, I can tell you that much. And don’t even ask about the power situation….it’s been bad. I’ve got it now, but who knows for how long. Sure is fun drivin!!!

Well our grand total for snow was 14 inches here in Hickman. It’s a nice heavy wet snow and it should help cool things off around here. The lakes should skim back over in the next night or two if the wind would just calm down. Come back ICE!!!

    Happy New Year everyone!!

Well, we got hit again. This time I think it may be worse as I’m hearing about entire towns without power and everything else. Lots of ice again, so lots of poles broken down and lines sagging all the way to the ground. I’m sick of it already, even though I’m lucky to have power now. We’ve been breakin ice off our cars….sometimes at least an inch thick. The cool thing is, all you have to do is pound the car like Lennox Lewis a few times and it just pops off. But it’s still hard to get in.

I have never seen ice like this!!! NPPD is saying that there is over 300 miles of just transmision lines that are down and they have no idea how many hundreds of miles of smaller lines there are down. I got my power back monday afternoon but there are a lot of folks that are not going to have power for days and possibily weeks

We had around 8 inches on the west side of Lincoln. We finally got to check out the 4 wheel drive on my wife Jeep Compass. It is pretty sweet for a little SUV. During the heavy stuff in Lincoln we were stuck in traffic since the semi trucks we having problem making up up several of the hills. Semi’s were stuck an any stoplight with an incline. So we jumped the median and turned around to find another way through. I was pretty impressed.
