Hey guys, it looks like I made it in. So next year I’ll be doing some traveling and fishing in Texas and Louisiana. I would like to land one of those hogs that they are catching on Lake Amistad. At least now I know what I am doing next year so I can start planning. I’m kind of excited now, and it’s only December.

Thanks guys. Although I didn’t really do anything special other than take advantage of the priority entry I gained by being a weekend series regional qualifier. I am excited, plus I kind of have a travel partner and a room mate. Aaron Jakub also from Lincoln is fishing the centrals opens too. Maybe this year I can be the one to win a boat. We’ve been talking about fishing these tournaments for years. Now I finally stepped up and registered.

What kind of a commitment is this. As a tourny ‘eye’ angler and don’t know the difference, if there is one, between the two as far as time commitment and scheduling??

It is basically 3 weeks of vacation to fish these tournaments. The tournaments run Thursdays-Saturday with the official practice starting on Monday. It really lightens my load for next year. They are fairly spread out too. With one in March, June and September. Last year I fished fish 15 tournaments on the weekends from March to November so this will free me up to do some more recreational fishing and camping with the kids. I’d have to say I was fairly burnt out by the end of the season last year. These should be fun. I’ve fished a few on the co-angler side, but this year it is my turn to be a pro. Plus I have time to hit some of my favorite I had missed out on for a few years like the Rose Placzec Mem. at Sherman. I can take the kids to the crappie tournament the following weekend too.

Jason, You mentioned Amistad and that’s where we fished the federation divisional in 2005. If you’ve never been on the lake I spent a week there that June. I’m sure not an expert but I’ve seen it from one end to the other if you’ve got any questions I can answer??? Was a new experience for me that I’d go at different if I had it to do over.

I’ll have to look at the rules again about gathering information, but that would be great to learn a little about the lake before the information cutoff.
