Neb/KS IDA Get Together

I know it’s kinda early but maybe we could put together a time for an IDA Weekend next year.

Calamus or Sherman in May might work, good fishing for a few different species and is somewhat… central. Johnson/Canals, Harlan, L&C, etc are all fine with me too.

I’d sure be willing to set up a Wimmer’s/Fairbury hot dog cook-out or something. Might be fun to get together somehow. I’m sure we could work around the NWT and NWA Schedules for anyone that fishes those next year.

    Who’s interested?

Maybe we could do it on a lake with catfishing for ol’ Brian!

Sounds like fun. I would be up for it if it fits into my schedule. Milford lake would be a good like too.

Shouldn’t a bass guy say Cedar Bluffs! I was there this past week, big-time down. Ouch. Kirwin is a pond almost again. It only has about 6″ x 3′ wide of water coming in.

I personally think that would be a great idea, and I would be in!! And don’t worry, I’ll leave the catfish behind for some good walleye and crappie fishin!!

Brian, no one says we can’t fish after supper

I’m not sure if that Tundra has had enough catfish in it anyway!

I think next year we’re having a fall crappie outing on the canal!

I’d be interested as well. We could start narrowing the “where and when”. Open it up to ideas…

1st weekend in May for the Crappie spawn at Sherman is my choice. It is also a good time to fish for the ‘eyes’ as well. If not that, then I say the 1st weekend in August at Harlan for some Wiper, White, ‘Eye’ and Kitty action. There is my $.02.

I agree with Zach. 1st weekend in May at Sherman sounds good.

Gosh, in may there is too many choices!

I would be up for a weekend outing at either Harlan, Sherman, or Johnson’s.

As far as the Wimmers roast goes…………If it is the cheddarbrauts, I’m in for SURE!

I think the first weekend of May at Sherman is the Walleye tournament Then the weekend following is usually the crappie tournament.

    Wowza, full weekends.

Early options are wknds of April 21 (Sherman or Cedar Bluffs crappie??), May 26 Mem Day wknd, June 9 or June 26. Otherwise we have NWA and NWT wknds. I have not committed to any circuit personally for 2007 yet.

I don’t know a whole lot about Milford but I’m up for anything. The refuge at Valentine might be going for pike?? about then too. Beautiful place to fish if they have water.

June 9 might??? be a nice time to fish about anywhere really. I know the walleye at Sherman are usually counted by whether you get a 100 in a day then. I don’t know much about the crappie or other species there then.

I’m 99% sure Wimmer’s would throw in some cheddarwurst or I’ll just get some!

We could sure pair up boats and so on too. I’d have room for 2 more guys to fish on my boat.

Just some more thoughts. The number one reason for the get together for me is to meet the people here on IDA now and make some new friends. There are also some unique things out there in the fishing world we could share or expose others too.

    1. I’m not the world’s best guide up there but the Missouri River around Niobrara can have good fishing in early to mid April for walleyes and sauger. On a blow day a guy can go below the dam at Yankton too. That might be a fun deal, it’s worth seeing if you haven’t fished it too. There is a state park there, Blue Moon Cabins at Verdel, 2 motels in town, plus a hunting lodge deal I know about.

    2. That secretive night bite at Elwood in June is to die for!

    3. Ben has a lot of time in at Branched Oak, a place that’s relatively central too.

    4. I can’t imagine all the idea you guys have in the central part of the state.

Uh……….I would be up for a trip at Elwood too! BUT……..Are you going to bring a crane or a helicopter to get our boats in the water?

I doubt they will put enough water back in to make it to the ramp.

The 1st of June would work also but isn’t the Harlan Anglers and the Gov Cup the 1st 2 weekends in June?

We need to get the tourney schedules and then try to decide where we want to go and when.

If we get some good ice this winter my family has a 6 or 7 acre lake on our farm out by Boelus. We could try to meet up out there for some ice fishing and later go into town to the famous Gold Nugget to eat. Just and idea.

I think I did space off the Gov’s Cup, prolly June 9/10th I’m sure.

That ice fishing thing isn’t a bad idea either.

At least we have some interest!

The NWA/NWT Schedules are at the top of the Neb page btw.

Swanson in late August or early September would be a place were not many have fished and would be an excelent wiper and white bite.

    Ah, how true, Todd!!

I’m pretty open about places to go and times of the year. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a vac day in or something too, so we’ll see how that all works out. I’m game!

    Guys,

There are a ton of great ideas and times. I’d say keep throwing out ideas and firm this up around March. Maybe Wade can do a poll post or something like that

I’m really excited and think this will be a lot of fun, whatever we do.

    15 here this morning.

I like Jason’s idea of hitting his family’s pond on the ice this winter!!! Then we could talk about a spring GTG!!

Pond idea is great, not many dates to work around probably. I work a bunch of boat shows but I’d say name a time JC and we’ll come a runnin’ with augers!

The pond is less than 10 miles from my house so we can do a nice meal or cards at my house and I can put a couple of people up for a night as well.

Then we can talk about the summer GTG at the spring GTG. There’s no reason we can’t have a couple of GTGs.

I like the idea of hitting those wipers in late summer. I’ve never targeted them before. Ya know, that might even be of interest to some of our out-of-state IDA brothers. I recall James was pretty interested in chasing wipers after seeing Zach’s report. Late August is probably a fairly uneventful time for more people too. Something to think about.

Sounds great to me. Otherwise it looks like Loup City might have the closest lodging??

    Sounds like fun!
