I would think that if the money was available that they would get it done. A good place to start would be contacting the Nebraska Game and Parks and they may give you some direction for someone to contact. It may be one of those deals where they will do it if enough people call or write them!!

they were putting a new base on the ramp a few weeks ago with the rock. but it got to the point where there loader was sinking in the mud, and had to give it up. i,d say by spring the water will be around the corner ,

I was over there a week ago, and it really didn’t look too good to me either. I was afraid to put my truck on any part of it, that’s for sure. Here’s what I know at this point: they wanted to try to put water in it either this fall or in the spring. I’m not sure which is looking more doubtful at this time. Also, the NGPC always said “you can only chase water downhill so far”, and unfortunately, I think that really applies in this situation. I don’t think anything will be done with the ramp right now; it just needs water.

I was talking to a guy in GI the other day though, and he wondered why they didn’t do there what they do up on the refuge lakes. They apparently have some sort of steel grate that they put out on the ramp, so you won’t sink into the muck, as the steel grate will hold up your tires. I’ve never seen this in use, but sure am interested in its uses.

They do work good in the Sand Hills in the SAND. But would they work in the CLAY or just disappear like the rock that keeps working down? Just a question; not knowledge.

We have used corrugated steel grates in the military over mud as temporary helo pads., But if you get your tires off the side of them they can be hell on rubber. I dont know if the one you are talking about are the same, but they work just could cost you some money in rubber.
