Another week, another game, another WIN! Huskers will prevail in Stillwater. Probably won’t watch it cause I will be filling my livewell up with Crappie&Eyes.

    Huskers – 37

    Cowboys – 14

    Go Skers!

Now that I’ve got to see these teams play a few times, I’ll join in on the predicting.

    Huskers 34
    Cowboys 20

I think Okie Lite will put up some points this week. We’re pretty banged up on defense and they can throw the pig around really well. We’ll score plenty ourselves. We need to avoid turnovers and win the battle of field position or these guys will put up some numbers, IMO.

The reason will win on the road is they won’t be able to run on us and they won’t be able to stop us from running either.

    GO HUSKERS!!!!!

    Huskers – 42
    OSU – 24

And the skers have a 170 yard rusher. I would say the smart money is on the over’s!!!!!!!

Oh boy…I’m not sure on this one. I’m going to go with 28-13, NU.

“Okie lite”….can’t believe I’ve never heard that one before!

Wow, what a sorry, sorry display. It’s only a matter of time before we get rid of the football program and bring in women’s lacrosse.

We sure got outplayed today. I was worried our DBs would be exposed this game, but not this bad. I was also a little worried about this being a trap game, including a Texas hangover. That aside, we were simply outplayed today. Let’s hope we can get it going next week against Missouri at home.

On a positive note, BJ looks like a stud!

Well I was correct about the 170 yard rusher but I was figuring on a few passing yards to go with that. ‘Ole Mizzou’ is going to be a tough one!!! At least we have them at home!!!!

    I knew I shouldn’t have went fishing!

Last year I went crappie fishing the day KU smoked us. I had a bad feeling before I went to bed Friday night.

I’ve been calling for Callahans head on a platter since he was hired. How many more losses like this can yall take before you follow suit with me?

If BC played DB, I’d hold him responsible. At this time, we probably have one of the worst defensive backfields in the big 12. On the other hand, BC should tell his coaches to start playing the young guys.

If we don’t win the North, I’m sure there will be a lot of people calling for the coach’s job. I don’t think that’d be the right move at this time. I wouldn’t mind a change at D coordinator, but I’d also like to see what Coz can do if he has some higher level talent to cover the top receivers in the big 12.

I’d do better to keep quiet.

But seriously, knowing what you know now, you’ld hire Callahan all over again?

    I sure wouldn’t. Blake maybe.

Another thing we should recognize is the at the top echelon Big 12 teams of the late 90’s and early 00’s were STOUT – OU, Texas, KSU, Nebraska, Colorado were tough, tough teams. The Big 12 isn’t what it used to be and we still aren’t there.

I am sick and tired of the coaches blaming “execution” i.e. the players. That’s a horrible way to run a team, business, or any organization. If you want perfect execution, practice 60-100 plays like Osborne did – over and over.

Anyone really think TT, KU, OSU, Mizzou, etc have had better players than we have the last few years during these losses? I don’t believe in recruiting rankings generally but that said here are the rankings for the players we have now. Contrary to revisionist belief, Osborne did NOT bring in top ten classes regularly.

    2001 ranking – 7th Super Prep; 14th Lemming; 10th Rivals;
    2002 ranking – high as 16, 20-25th
    2003 – around 20th nationally
    2004 – 20-25th

Maybe we should recruit 3-4 RB’s and 3-4 WR’s this year. Lord knows the OL isn’t important.

In year 3 of Cally/Pedey we still have all those “bad” Solich players making huge contributions – Austin, Patrick, Mann, Byford, Murtha, Todd, Swift, Nunn…, Ruud, Grixby, Herian, Brandenburgh, McKeown, Bradley, Carriker, Moore, Green, Todd, Shanle, etc.

Speaking of Herian. I feel bad for you big guy, I thought this might be your year.

I hope the recruiting is good, but it seems like a revolving door there too.

Personally, I thought and think we should have hired someone within the “NU Family”.

By the way, Ohio is bowl eligible at 6-3 and have the inside track to the MAC Championship. Not bad for a program that has went to 3 bowls – ever. Congrats to Frank and congrats to Turner Gill who has a poor record but a Buffalo team that has fought tooth and nail in every game -taking Auburn into the 4th quarter on the road!

By the way, Bohl got fired for one bad game and a 55th national ranking. I believe NU is now at 69th on D and we haven’t exactly played good teams – only 2 over .500. Our running game was ranked 108??? roughly last year.

Ya, we’re scoring some points, good to see. But it feels like the other coaches are playing chess and we’re playing mah jong (too complicated).

I’m glad so many people are still into the huskers, I just can’t do it. That said, we need to give Bill two more years to decide. Yes, I believe that. We’ll either get better, worse, or the same. But at least our AD can show he’ll give a hire a chance, that’s will be important if we do have to hire again. It really isn’t fair to judge until his freshman are 5th year seniors. (Yes, I know his first class was mostly Solich, but I’m not going 6!)

So why did NU lose? They lost for a couple of reasons:

    1) OSU has some freakishly talented offensive players. In fact, I would put their collection of skill players on par with any in the conference. That includes Texas. Guys like that eventually make some big plays.

    2) The final 45 seconds of the first half were devastating to NU. I cannot emphasize enough how horrible the safety play was on Bowman’s TD. That changed the game.

    3) NU’s first drive of the second half was crucial given the events at the end of the half. It looked promising, but then you have a mental error that forces you to try to a long field goal with your pop gun leg kicker. Getting no points on that drive was devastating.

    4) In a macro sense, the biggest reason NU lost this game was the errors made by the offense. The dropped passes, the missed throws, the mental errors, and the penalties prevented NU from scoring 40. Without those unforced errors, NU does score 40, and they win this game, in spite of what the defense was doing.

That’s the truth, and I am not interested in arguing it. Bash the staff all you want, all you can do as a coach is put people in a position that gives them a chance succeed. NU has more than ample chances to succeed on Saturday.

Like a wise man once said.

“If only 250 plays would have went different the last 35 years, we’d be undefeated since 1971.”
