Looks like it’s going to be a nice weekend. What is everyone going to do?? I think I’m going to kill a turkey or 2 and then maybe some ducks and if there’s time after that I’m going to see if I can track down some eyes or wipers!!!

I’m taking the 7 yr old boy up to pool 8 and try to find him some bass. He skunked me with a 6 lb channel cat last time we were fishing.

Don’t tempt me Derek!!! It would be worth the drive as long as I didn’t have to pay for th gas. That water temp has to be dropping pretty fast again now. Fishing should really start to get better for you!!!

I think I’m headed to Burchard Saturday for one last trip there this year. They close the gates on the 15th for goose season. I’m trying to catch some nice fish for an article I’m working on for the Lincoln Journal Star. It should be a good little trip.

    Jason-
How was the bass fishing at Burchard??
Have you heard anything about the pan fishing down there?? I’d like to get on the ice down there this year. That lake used to treat me good in the winter.

Not much luck at Burchard this weekend. I only had the morning to fish. We fished for a couple hours and only caught on 12″ bass. I didn’t see another person catch a fish all morning. Around 10 we called it quits and went over to Iron Horse Trail until 12:30. Didn’t get a single bite there. I couldn’t believe how high the water was though. The water was pretty murky and covered almost all of the rock on the east side of the lake. It wasn’t a real productive day. The biggest thing I noticed was that the water temps were about 10 degrees cooler this year as this same time last year. In the morning the water temp was 51 degrees at Burchard. When we left Iron Horse it was 54. Last year the water held in the low 60’s right until the end of October and the fishing was great. This last cold front was pretty strong. I start to have problems catching bass once the water drops into the low 50’s. Hopefully, I can catch ’em next week at the Bassmaster Midwest regional on Table Rock.

Sherman was good intil the sun came up over the dam. Ended up with some crappies and a couple of eyes.
