Need to replace rod tip guides on a couple Ugly Stick rods

Two of my flathead rods have a groove or crack in the guide tips. I use braided line and I’m sure these grooves could cause problems if I get a good fish pulling line under tension through them. Is this something I can do myself using a little heat?

Absolutely! Just a little heat and the tip should come off.

Use a LITTLE heat! Pull the tip off with pliers while applying the heat. Make sure you find a new Rod tip with the same size barrel that fits over your Rod tip. Kits come with a stick of melt glue.

Heat the end of the glue stick, then rub it on Rod tip and immediately push new Rod tip on and position correctly. If it’s not on straight, hit it with a dab of heat, and reposition.

Most local tackle shops will do it for you cheaper than you can do it yourself. Dorns in Madison has all kinds of tips in an odd box to sort through and find a match. If I recall I’m not even sure they charged me and if they did it was .25 for the tip.
