Broke my 610mxf st.croix rage rod this week.

    They don’t make it anymore.

    No more to buy.

    Don’t want other rods.

PM me price and timeline to build this rod to exact spec as was original. Still have thing if needed to strip parts.

Do they still sell the blank? A rod builder needs that to start. Otherwise everything else is just a similar rod.

I want a Loomis PR7000 but they don’t make the blank anymore. Everything I looked at with the same/similar specs is not the same rod.

St. Croix SCIII blank… can’t get those anymore. The guides and reel seat on those Rage rods were really cheap, no problem sourcing those. The grips were proprietary St. Croix, didn’t think anyone actually liked them.

Closest blank you’ll find is a Rod Geeks C4610MXF – basically an exact copy of Croix SCIV (Legend Tournament), so an “upgrade”.

Ick, don’t care for that blank whatsoever. And legend elite is far too stiff.

Don’t say it isn’t so?! chased

The rod doesn’t make the man…the man makes the rod. Time to grow up and get a loomis.

    Time to grow up

    Sounds awful.

    No story behind the “incident”?

None, what makes salt in the wound. Just stupidness on my part. Pulled boat up to camp and snapped on tree.

Gonna have to figure something out.

Rainshadow rod blanks hired I believe who use to be the head blank designer from St Croix. May not be apples to apples comparison but might find something similar in the Rainshadow lineup. Been very happy with the ones I’ve picked up.

I build using rainshadow blanks and never a complaint. if you are near Rochester MN give Jeff a call at Minske bait to feel one 1st hand he has many in his shop at all times and builds them there

I’ll be the only one to say this. But I feel your pain. I switched to a sixgill lykan series and it is a perfect fit. Blows the doors off the Loomis and very comparable to the rage.
Pretty sure you have a akylos from me, but the lykan is far superior. I’ll happily let you borrow it before you purchase. If you don’t feel the same then you lost nothing and the search continues

Rod Geeks exclusively sells SCV st croix blanks. They also stock other rod blanks that they claim are exact specs to other St Croix blanks but not St Croix brand. You should be able to find that blank or something very close to it through them.

I don’t spend the extra money! Built several MHX blanks, and have never had a problem!!

Jeff at Minske bait is a good guy and has many of the Rainshadow blanks on hand. I have picked up many blanks from him to build on. You can not get the exact same blank as what is on St. Croix rods anymore. Rod Geeks uses the same materials but they are a different design. Many of the MHX blanks are made by Boston Rainshadow in their lower lines to MHX specs. The Elliot rods I built are the same ones I had with on our Leech Lake trip. I don’t think you played with them on that outing. You are more than welcome to swing by and handle them. But right now most of Elliot blanks are not in stock. He still has some. You should be able to find a blank that will be close to the RS610MFX. But it won’t be exactly the same. Give me a call and we can see what I can do for you.

I did some looking around and here is a couple of blanks that might work:
    – Rainshadow REVS610MXF (may be a bit stiffer than RS610MFX)
    – Rodgeeks C270MXF (close, would cut it down to length)
    – MHX Mag XF MB812XF (closest to SCIII blanks)

I have never handled the RS610MFX blank. These are just my guess going off the specs I could find.

Sorry Beads. But Matt is right, at least on the Loomis part anyway. Just buy one and never look back. waytogo

Typically when I go rod shopping I know exactly what I want in a rod and let the rod tell me if it’s right not the brand or price tag. Loomis hasn’t ever hit that feel for me yet. Maybe this go around one will, I haven’t ever felt the need to grab other MXFs bc I was so satisfied with my current stick.

If I don’t find one I’m confident rodwork will get the best match
