Well the first season is coming to a close with the Pontoon and it looks like I will need a trolling motor.
A couple of things I noticed and hoping a trolling motor will solve the issues.

I could only troll down to 2.5 mph. and it was difficult to stay anchored on a spot, plus trolling with the big motor sure racks up the hours.

I plan on rigging a trolling motor this off season and want to make sure I install the correct motor. It has to have enough power to propel a 24″ tri, probably remote controlled, will a spot lock electric motor be able to hold me on a spot. Anything else I should be needing or concerned about.

Who’s the best to rig it for me?

I know “0” about electric motors, so helpful advice is welcome.

    ps love that pontoon life!

I use a drift sock under the toon and I can troll down to 3/4 mph and without it im at 3 mph. But im not sure that would work with a tri toon? If you are on the river I think you might need a big ass electric motor in the 36 v category to make headway. Toons seem to have a lot more drag at slower speed. If for lakes I would think 80# thrust would be enough for most situations

A cousin has a two float pontoon at 26 feet and he runs a 110 pound with spot lock and does ok unless the In bad wind a large sock works pretty good unless the wind really bucks up, then that sock can be a trolling assist as mentioned.
