Need Help with a Boat Ride

I’m looking for a place to moor my boat around LaCrosse and PDC (or anyplace for that matter) that has a motel close by.

I’m guessing these places have no wake areas so I’m more worried about security then glass damage.

It’s going to be a three day trip with 1.5 days down and the same coming back with some on the river sightseeing in between.

Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

The docks look to be run by the restaurant/bar that operates out of the hotel — their website doesn’t have any info on overnight mooring but maybe possible?

Hopefully in the next month. Finding places to stay is first, then gas, then planning a time, then weather.

    It’s a process. )

Can’t you check with the marinas down there to see if they have a transient dock? I know Hudson has one and you can rent a spot for about 30 – 40.00 per night.

You know I thought about that…but it’s the river. I would have a hard time sleeping…unless I could get an extension cord out to the battery charger and that kind of defeats the purpose. LOL!

    Calling MR. @ecnook

Just hoping to eliminate some of the calling Buzz. We have a lot of people on this site from down that way. Looking for the local intell. That might be what I end up doing though.

    The Winnie

Call them up.. they have dock space…bar restaurant and The Barn Restaurant across the street..

Just a few miles down the street and you have the Country Inns and Suites or the AmericInn down town

The La Crosse Municipal Harbor has transient slips. Contact the operator for more info:

Thanks again all. I was looking over the weekend and thinking at an average speed of 30 mph for 8 hours will put me 240 miles down stream.

Course that’s not counting locks or other things that could slow me down.

Red Wing in Mile Marker 791 + 200 is 991. That’s a lot less then I was expecting to go in one day. Looks like around the LaCrosse area.

Thanks Water Doc…just what the Doctor ordered!!

That’ll be fun. We houseboated from Alma to Trempealeau a few summers ago, and it was a lot of fun. I’d love to do a more extended trip.

I hear you Ralph. Too much going on (again) this year to be gone more than a couple days and two days is not enough if a person wants to wet a line and nose around a bit.

A houseboat as in floating motel room seems like a hoot.

Left the kids with Grandpa and Grandma and went with 6 couples (and A LOT of beer). Awesome time.

we stayed at that hotel in la crosse, have outside bar, restaurant, rooms pretty nice, did the same trip from red wing straight to la crose, and then overnight on way back. nice trip down, and very neat area from boat.
