Need help on this body of water

  • #1499455

This 50 acre clear water reservoir near my home has good numbers of Sauger, Crappie and Perch. Fished first time and jumped all over with not one bite and very little fish marked this weekend. Same with 9 others on ice there as well. Where shall I concentrate to catch fish? It’s hard to see the depth markings but it’s a flat 15-18′ with the sides tapering zero to 15′ fairly quick.

I would hit the corners the trough run into the middle and the tiny pools. if not there then a large basin crappie run and gun.

It is important to know the forage base in this reservoir since it is a nearly featureless basin. Frenchman has given good starting points. I would work the trough and the southeast corner moving toward the moving water at the outlet west of that corner. Cloudy days and twilight hours would be key times to fish. is there any muck for insects to burrow–look for those “sticky bottom” areas near cups in the contour lines. And, stay away from the crowds. Tight lines, Bob
