Does anyone know where I can possibly rent a flywheel puller
    For a 90hp merc?

Also looking for a stator if anyone has one laying around?

This video shows how I remove most of my flywheels. In addition I use a brass or aluminum hammer, or brass/alum block between a steel hammer and nut. (alum and brass are softer than steel)

Vibration causes the tapered surfaces to loosen their grip on each other. Most times it does not take a very hard hit to free them.

That works till you break one. Then it becomes expensive. Most auto parts stores have them for rent. Just need to determine the bolt circle size needed so you get one that has the range to fit what you need.

He is right in how they work to remove the flywheel. Tighten the puller up to get some EVEN tension on the flywheel. Rap the puller stud with a hammer and the flywheel should pop right off with no damage.

If you are going to work on outboards, why not just bite the bullet and buy one for $35.00?

I tried several different ways but nothing seems to work. I ordered the specific one merc makes for my motor. Was just hoping to get it fixed so I could hit the water this weekend. Thanks guys.

They can be stuck on and hard to get off. Leave the puller on overnight, give the center bolt a whack with a mallet every now and again. They all come off, just depends how hard…

Also sent a friend request so I can PM ya something else.
