The standard mouse is causing problems with my hand. My pointer finger is in bad shape. Must be from clicking mouse and using the wheel on top all day 5 days a week for years. It came on slow but is turning into a big problem fast. Are there any mouse’s out there that would work without using pointer finger for those functions?

Have you tried switching hands? Works for me. You can change the clicker setting on you mouse if needed.

One of my customers just mentioned that. I’ll try it.
December 18, 2014 at 2:27 pm #1485789is your pointer finger the only finger you have on that hand?
Designed for that finger. Trying to use middle finger but its not working well.
December 18, 2014 at 2:42 pm #1485798Either of these may help. We have used both at work, also switching hands may take a while to get used to but it sure does help as well.
this last one is more for wrist issues

December 18, 2014 at 2:47 pm #1485802Thanks a lot guys. I just switched my mouse over to left hand. Awkward but as swollen as my right finger is I am definitely motivated. Thanks again.

ROTFLMAO!!!!!
December 19, 2014 at 8:00 am #1486042When I was doing CAD for a living, I switched my mouse hand from right to left and back again every few weeks. It helped, and it doesn’t take long to get used to it. I actually found that I preferred mousing with the left hand. I could use my right hand to input on the number keypad and work faster that way.
December 19, 2014 at 3:26 pm #1486193I want to make it clear that I’m NOT going to make any jokes here. Mainly because others have already made the ones that I was going to.
Suzuki, Kensington makes a variety of trackballs in different configurations that can really help with your situation. My father had CTS so he needed to have a couple of these Kensington mice in different configurations.

Me too. No problems with my mouse hand, but my other hand’s wrist is another story.

Some hate them. Use one for a week and it’s no big deal.

FryDog62Posts: 3696December 20, 2014 at 11:15 am #1486394Sorry for the gory picture again, I posted a couple weeks ago. I’ve had 2 wrist surgeries, not all because of a mouse but, it was a BIG factor. Not only carpal tunnel but I also had a bone removed from my wrist in November.
Suzuki, it starts with your index finger getting swollen. Here’s what my doc demonstrated for me. With your right hand palm side up, use your left index finger and push on your right index finger. This creates tension down and diagonal across your hand to your wrist. See photo with the “V” incision on my hand…that’s exactly where using your index finger to click a mouse will take its toll. Most people start with a sore finger, then carpal tunnel, then bone removal.
My original repetitive motion injuries were from sports and/or weight lifting. But in the past several years, the main culprit was the mouse. My surgeon specifically said you have “mouse” wrist.
A couple years ago (probably too late) I did switch to a left hand mouse. Awkward for the first couple months, now I’m as good right or left handed. I liken it to switching from a spinning rod to a bait caster where you use different hands. You can learn.
The other thing I did was pick up an iPad. No mouse clicking at all.
The key is not any one thing for any extended period of time. I switch off between the iPad and the left click lap top mouse. Or, add in the Kensington track ball. Then you have 3 different ways of “clicking” and don’t rely on one thing too much.
I’ve got another 10-15 years to work and hope to be able to retire some day with wrists that work well enough to keep fishing. Wish I would have switched things up years ago. You’re at the early stage – make the changes now if you can my friend. -Fry

I also use a chromebook 1/2 the time now.
