Not sure what species you are planning on targeting, but James and Andy just did the last show out in Webster for crappies and bluegills. Might be worth a watch or a pm to either of them to see what they have to say since they were just there

They did a great job with that show. I was very jealous of their day! I’d love to get out on a body of water where they are and maybe learn some tips first had..

Crappies and gills are going nuts. Walleyes and perch not so much. We fished last Friday Saturday and Sunday searched for eyes and perch Friday and only got 2 perch and a few small eyes. Saturday and Sunday we fished gills and pies and had one of the best panfish days I can remember on Saturday.

If a guy is after perch, my suggestion would be to look at the Watertown area currently. The best perch reports I’ve heard this year have come from down that way.

I agree with Andy. Ponds 81 and Brush are producing, as well as some of the not-so-well-known sloughs in the area.

I am from the great state of Minnesota, and now go to college out here in South Dakota and I have gone out a dozen times this winter with very little luck in the Webster area. I am just wondering if anyone in that area has been doing anything. Its hard fishing these bodies of water with maps in a book I bought and not a ton of structure and no experience on these bodies of water.

On a new lake, I bring my Navionics on my Cell Phone and plop down near the others in the area and see how the bite is. As a starting point anyway. Then I look at the structure on the map as to why these other guys are there, then look for spots on that lake that are similar in depth, bottom makeup and structure. I catch a fish now and then too! Also, some sports shops will share some nice info too. Navionics guys will often share hot spots within the mapping app publicly too so check into that.

I’ve been using Google earth on a lap top our desk top. ( haven’t figured out how to use it on my smart phone yet) but on the other two I can look at the past photos from say the nintys and see the lay of the land before it had flooded and have found it to be vary helpful attend interesting. I also call the sportsmans cove he leaves a new fishing and hunting report every five days our so. My son and I love that area!
