I just recently purchased a new boat with 3 HDS lowrance graphs linked together on it. I need to buy a navionics plus chip for them, but I was wondering if I only need to buy one card to get maps on all 3 units or if I need to get a card for all 3 if I want maps on all of them?

Let me know if you guys have any past experience with this.

if they are all gen 2’s and newer — I believe it’s one chip.

One is a HDS 7 gen 2, second is an HDS 9 gen 3, and the third one is a HDS 9 Carbon.

    Deadeye9,

Your Navionics+ map chip will share the map between all three of your units.

HOWEVER, if you want to be able to use the Sonar Charts Live option (and you do, it’s an awesome feature) you CANNOT have a Gen 2 or older unit connected to your network via ethernet or it won’t work on any of your units.

In order for the SonarCharts Live to work, you’d either have to leave the Gen 2 HDS 7 disconnected from the other two units (no ethernet cable), or replace it with a Gen 3 or newer unit.
