I recently became a first time Helix owner (Ice 7 GPS G2). Been looking at mapping options and from what I’ve read Lakemaster chips are generally preferred over Navionics chips. But a couple of the lakes I fish the most when I go to ND are not available on Lakemaster. So I’m looking the at Navionics Hotmaps Platinum North chip. Anyone have any feedback on that chip specifically or the Hotmaps Platinum chips in general?

I have friends that use them, most prefer Lakemaster for the lakes they have.

Wait, isn’t there Navionics and Hot Maps? Separately? I didnt think Navionics worked in Birds.

You can look at the Navionics data available by going to the Navionics Web Viewer.

I did see that you can preview the Navionics data, thanks. Looking for feedback from anyone that has experience using the chips I referenced above.

I would prefer to get the Lakemaster Smart Strike chip, but unfortunately Lakemaster doesn’t have a couple of the lakes I’m mainly looking for.

I use the navionics platinum in both of my helix 9s because as you said many lakes I fish are not on Lakemaster They work very well and can be updated. some lakes are very good some not so much. Best option is map yourself in the boat with autochart.
