Today is National Get Outdoors Day — a day to enjoy the benefits of nature. Admission at all Minnesota state parks is FREE today and all are welcome! So spend some time in nature and get out and explore. Take some photos and please feel free to share!

This morning I woke up early and headed over to a local park. Not a state park, but that’s okay. I recently got a new soft-sided tackle box with a shoulder strap – much easier for carrying around doing some shore fishing! I spent some time organizing tackle, which is always fun, and did some fishing last night and again this morning. Nothing was biting this morning but I did see a large snapping turtle, lots of squirrels and birds, and enjoyed the park to myself for a little while.

Yesterday evening I enjoyed some fishing at a nearby pond. Lots of painted turtles and a few small panfish. And whatever the hell this guy is. Did I catch the famous green sunfish??

What the….you’ve got all the beautiful red hair buried under that cap! Nice smile though. Looks like a fun little lake and you apparently have that fish under thumb. Literally.

Yep! I twist it into a low bun at the back of my head, military-style for when I need it out of my way, or if I need to wear a ball cap. mrgreen

    That’s awesome Sharon!
We live about 20 minutes from Itasca State Park so we headed there Saturday and enjoyed a day of bike riding!
