Its pretty good. Sheds water pretty well and you can strip ice off it almost as easily as mono. But it will fray quicker with stripping off ice so you need to watch for that and cut off the end section once you notice it fraying.

Freeze up isn’t any better or worse than any other braid. It’s the best casting line on the market though. Unfortunately I don’t cast while ice fishing.

I don’t use it any more for 1 reason. If you scrape the ice off your line, the line will begin to fray. I was using it for lake trout with 100′ of line out only to fray my line badly right at the depth I was jigging. As it starts to fray, it just pick up more and more ice and the snowball effect begins until it breaks.

    I advise against it.

I just ordered today, 3 spools of ASSO Heavy Ice. I’ve had this on my rods for the last 2 seasons. This line is really some nice stuff. I’m using 3#, florescent yellow.

Don’t use the nanofil, it will fray and break easily with any freeze up at all like mentioned.

Anyone have any experience with Power Pro Ice-Tec?

This is their sales pitch on their website…
“The incredible sensitivity and awesome abrasion resistance mean less lost lures and fish. Whether you’re fishing the frozen waters of Lake Winnibigoshish in Minnesota or angling the Archipelago in Sweden, PowerPro ICE-TEC Line is a weapon of mass extraction. Add this to your arsenal of terminal tackle and fight the fish…PowerPro ICE-TEC Line is fire in the hole!”

I just like the blue dye on the Power Pro. Still using old line… before the ice tech version.

I tried nanofil on an ice rod and it was stripped off when I got home. Was terrible for fraying and breaking!

The Powerpro stuff isn’t terrible but it does collect ice pretty bad so I didn’t use it for long either.

I find if I NEED braid I will use Fireline Micro Ice. Other than that I’m almost exclusively mono, fluoro coated mono or fluoro. (P-Line Floroice, Seaguar Invisx, Sufix Ice Magic, Sufix Invisiline Ice)

I tried some and I had it fray and break on the first big fish I caught. The line got dragged along the underside of the hole and it was all over.

I do Sufix Ice Magic, or Sufix 832 with a Seaguar flourocarbon leader. All bases covered.
