this is a great post… There are many people from this site for whom I’ve very greatful to

I appreciate very much EVERYONE that contributed on this post. I think Wil summed up my thoughts very well in the quote above. I never meant to exclude anyone, and it was very intentional as to why I opened up the post with name “One Person”. I knew many of the long timers from here couldn’t/wouldn’t do it. For some time now, I have observed and read about a lot of negative attitudes, disrespectful responses, and others leaving because of it. I’m hoping that the few that feel it necessary to contribute that way will read through this and see the abundance of positive and caring people we have among us. Possibly inspire you to contribute more???

Over time, members come and go. Life provides changes and opportunities and it affects the things we do on a regular basis. But the members of IDO (throughout conception to current) has been a major reason why I’m on here almost daily. Congregated here is the best of the best of sportsmen/women. WE have all contributed to and assisted in building this site. Yes, James gave us the platform, but it is ALL of the names listed above AND many more that made this a spectacular wealth of information. I’m very grateful to have many experiences in life that many do not get to do. That inspires me to help others and share in what I have learned.
So, what can you do today to inspire someone?

Absolutely Randy!!! I’m inspired to be the person to assistin the opportunity to help people get up here to the Northwoods to be outside, not necessarily fish. To be able to coach a high school ice fishing team and serve on the WI State Board of Directors for WIFA (www.studentfishing.com)!!! To be a coach for a high school trap team!!! To help when people ask for it, including giving up numbers, not publicly, but to help them!!!

I’m not old, but I’m old, and like lots of guys/gals who offer up info on the great site, I don’t need to take it to any grave even though I have no plans to be there any time soon!!!

I can’t pick just one so I’ll go with some techniques and the people that helped me.

James and Dustin Stewart for opening my mind to the use of plastics, especially pitching, for river walleye.

Steve DeZurik for night fishing the river, especially plastics for big, Pool 2 fall/winter walleye.

Brain Klawitter for helping me get started sturgeon fishing.

Fishblood for, well, seems like he does everything and writes a lot of very detailed, informative posts. I’ve learned things about walleyes, white bass, cats, sturgeon, side imaging, anchoring techniques, etc. from him.

Randy W for sharing his knowledge of, well, a lot of things too, but maybe his knowledge of rifles and shooting. I ended up buying my son a Tikka T3x 270 WIN based on his advice.

Mike W. for winter, river walleye fishing (and busting the ramps open)

Dean Marshall for “Must be Present to Win” and the bite turns on a “Dark-30”.

Joe Bushman said it best when he said that you’ve got to “Learn to Learn How to Fish”. Those might not be his exact word but something to that extent. Many people help me learn how to learn.

I forgot Steve Demars. Is he still on here? He was very innovative with catfish tactics and I spent a few nights on his pontoon.

I know for sure that Steve is still around because he’s my dad! He has just been a little quiet lately because he has been working on some top secret stuff over the winter.

    toast

You got a good ol man there!
