Thanks to a friend of mine and also someone on this forum, I went ahead with their pool noodle idea. These lures cost too much these days to let em get so beat up

What boxes are those? I saw a 3600 deep box that I’m thinking of just cutting the dividers out of and laying some foam.

I know Clam and Plano both make a spoon box with the foam already in it FYI.

Hi Ben d. The boxes I used are 3500’s. I used a hot glue gun to hold down the foam. (Mostly cuz that dries so quickly). And yes I realize a couple companies have a spoon box. This was just a personal preference for me. I like carrying around smaller boxes. I felt the others were too large for my liking

I used the Plano Elite Series Crankbait Stowaway box (3700) as the inside is removable. I think there are some other box’s in that series that have removable insides insides for need of cutting the slots out. I then went to a craft store and got some 3/4″ foam and started cutting slots.

Nathan, what did you use to cut the slots out of the foam in your Rapala boxes? Looks like you cut pieces out rather than cut straight through. Very nice!

You can get a plano 3600 box that has no dividers. I got those and some green foam from a fabric store. Cut foam to fit and just cut a slot with a exacto or a utility knife. Presto done. As far as the Clam box I looked at those last year and unless they changed the latches I wouldn’t buy one. Cabelas had 3 on the shelf and all had a broken latch.

I went with one of those Plano I believe 3440 water proof boxes? It makes it nice and portable on the ice and fits right in my striker coat pockets!

I also switched to smaller boxes that’ll fit in pockets. They do you no good if 20yds away in your box on the ATV.

I just used a sharp hobby exact o knife and did cut pockets in the foam for jigging raps and long slots for rattle baits leaving foam on the bottom. For the jigs I made a paper template with a hole were I wanted the jigs and then laid the template inside the box and made a bunch of dots on the foam and then took the same exact o knife and made a cross shape in the foam for the lures, for the longer lures I had to angle the slots so the covers would shut. Lucky I have an understanding wife who gives me a lot of garage time, fishing time and money to buy lures.
