Awesome fish! You’re making my skin crawl James! Headed out there in a week or so…. Heard the bites been great so far this year. Run into any issues with cracks or heaves with that wind we had last week?

We’re out about 5 miles in 23 feet and there are some heaves but nothing significant. The bite seems to be best right near the heaves with most of the pressure right now lined up on both sides of the heaves in the area. There’s LOTS of people out taking advantage of the holiday.

    Looks cold…

It was dang cold this morning but a 31+ inch walleye made it all worthwhile. That and Cal has been cooking pizza rolls for everyone.

Did you go out Catawba or Camp Perry? That pig makes these DePere walleyes look sick

Erie has been on fire! Crazy that an ecosystem can go that bananas. Look forward to it!

Magee Marsh. Not sure if that’s the way you spell it but it is undoubtedly close enough.

Thanks James! Hopefully that’s the first of MANY pigs for you and the crew. Have a great time and stay safe! Looking forward to the show allready…..

Can’t wait to see this episode! Been waiting for someone to do a show about going out there. Being from Minnesota its a bite of a drive, then again so is Winnipeg and I will be heading up there for march madness.

How long of a drive is that from MN?

Winnipeg is a 6.5hr drive for me, which is doable, but it does not offer the Erie style opportunity!

I just google mapped it, from Minneapolis to the west side of Erin is 10.5. I have no idea where people go out of on the lake

Guessing your within a few miles of where buddies of mine are at. They are on numbers, but not consistent size. Good luck and be safe. Looking forward to seeing the show

Where James is at is about 10-1/2 to 11 hrs from Minneapolis. Its actually a little shorter drive where James got on the ice & a shorter run while on the ice. ASSUMING he is on the north-North/east end of the reefs. Popular locations for most is to get on at Camp Perry or Catawba OH.

Had a great time with the IDO crew today. Had no idea there was so much that goes into making a 30 minute show. One thing we noticed was the guys are very nice and easy going. Definitely a class act! It was nice to get you guys over here and get on so many Fish O’s. Can’t wait to see the show next Sunday.

If anyone has questions about Erie, let me know. We usually have boots on the ice any given day during the winter.

A big Thank you to James and the guys for working so hard and being a class act.
I never realized James is so tall!

Randy, we were not any where near the reefs. We were way west down by the intake.

Another thread to make me wish I was somewhere else, doing something else. Then comes the shows, and the level of pain gets worse…. and yet I can’t wait to see it.

wow, you guys were about 10 miles or more from where I figured your at. But then, its only a couple inches on a map jester Guys I know that are out are north of Pickerel. They’re running out from the Camp Perry crowd and on crazy numbers, but sounds like they aren’t hitting anything over 5#. Looks like there will be a couple year classes coming up. They were finding tons of 6″ and 9″ eyes in shallower. They thought they found the mother load of perch until they iced a few and then dropped a camera down on them.

Great to see you guys are on the ones that Erie is known for! toast

If you decide to get a big RV or tour bus, I’m sure a number of guys here would quit their jobs and become fish “groupies”!!

I was quoted a ball park number of $4,500 plus the driver’s motel to run from LaX to Port Clinton with a 40 something foot charter bus. Cargo transport beneath for flips & gear. That would leave on a monday morning and come back on a Thursday.
That compared to about $175.per truck to make the round trip

I have done a trip similar to this. The owner of the bus company started it over 30 years ago and now his son has continued the tradition. We start in Richfield, Mn and head to LOW. They also organize our resort stay as well.
