Yes, it rocks in the sense of being able to identify just how many places are ripping people off!

    Look at the freaking prices.

This is depressing. I was hoping that by the start of this year we would be seeing normal quantities of .22 ammo and normal prices returning and that by mid-2015, we could finally declare the 3 year shortage over with.

Judging by what I’m seeing so far, there is still a massive shortage and almost nothing is hitting the shelves.

A lesson for you on how business works Grouse…The retailers of ammunition are not ripping you off. They are using the same margins (Markups…) as they have been using for years. Take it from someone that has seen their invoices. The retailers are not the ones getting rich on this deal…

I think the smaller businesses are getting hit but the major retailers must still be getting it for a fairly decent price. Click on the Walmart button to check area inventories and the price per round is around $.04. I haven’t checked in a while but Fleet Farm didn’t change their shelf tags for at least 2 years. According to the employees, the stuff comes in and is out the door within a few hours.

Latest word I’ve heard from the mom and pop shops is that production is still 2 years behind and many of them can’t even place orders this year. I wouldn’t look for the prices to go down any time soon if this is true.

Out of nowhere, my .22WMR ammo has almost doubled……. if I can find it. I can’t even find gougers on wikiarms or gunbroker that have what I’m after! Has anyone seen the skyrocketing prices on .22S? I was really hoping to save money by using rimfire for short range prairie dogs but with the price increases, it’s actually cheaper to buy .223! Last week……. WMA 55gr. JHP was $6/box at Fleet Farm. 3 boxes gives me 60rds for $18.00. One box of 22WMR gives me 50rds and the lowest price I’m seeing now is $16/box. What I’m after is now up to $19/bx. But…… if .223 is cheaper, I guess I’m not after rimfire anymore…… am I?

Last gripe…… I was taking out some crows around the house a couple of weekends ago and looked on the box of shells. I mark everything I buy just for trivial purposes but I bought this particular box in 2011 and paid $2.89/bx for #6 Federal Field and Range. Today, you can’t hardly find anything under $6/bx! 4 short years and the price has doubled! I’m not sure where anything goes from here but I get the feeling it’s not going to get any easier……

Gander has been full of all ammo except .22 LR for a long time. The prices have not come down at all. I dont understand that either. I also dont understand how .22 LR is still unobtainable. It’s beyond reason.
