Got this guy on camera recently. He’s my new #1 unless something better shows up in the next 4 weeks. Can’t wait for the velvet to start falling off.

The first pic is my #2 so far.

The split G2 is the deciding factor for me. The reality is, I’d shoot either and be very proud of them both.

    Kooty,
Holy bases, i think when the velvet comes off that buck will have alot of mass. What are you thinking high 160’s?

have you ever saw this buck in years past or is a transplant to your area?

I don’t have anything concrete to go on so I think he is a new guy. I had a really wide and fairly tall buck get by us last year. I thought one of these bucks could be him possibly.

Further proof trophy management works. We passed this little guy last year on several occasions as a 1.5 year old. He’s is going to be special next year.

Hard to label those two deer as 1 and 2. Maybe 1 and 1.001 would be better. I would kill either one in a heartbeat.

    No doubt!

Sktr, not sure what to guess on score. I found out last year I’m a horrible field judge of deer. Thought my 148 would go mid 30’s tops. Now with velvet, who knows. I’ll be darn proud to have him on the wall in the breezeway beside this guy though.

It’s pretty amazing how talking the old man into leaving our 80 of CRP alone all year and adding some food and water has done. We have a pin head of land by SD standards. I’m quite confident even though we don’t winter the deer they keep coming back.

That’s awesome you have the habitat and space to let them grow. We still have a few neighbors with the “It’s brown-it’s down” mentality. They’re always in awe of big bucks, but shoot anything that comes along. Hard to get them past 3 years around here

Absolutely it does. Been on the QDM plan now for 9 years and last year was the first we have had decent amount of deer winter on our farm. They always came for the food and water and even more when we added a sanctuary, but now finally we got them to stay all winter in pretty good numbers.

Another great buck, I think it’s the same as the first buck in the original thread here.
