My hope is everyone on here on IDO stays healthy during these troubling times. It has been stressful, more so for some than others but we all deal with situations differently. My hope is that you who say it will be over quickly are correct, I really do. I would not mind being proved wrong on this one at all. I do know that financially some here will be strapped. If any government check comes mine will be going to the local food shelf. If anyone gets to the point of not being able to buy groceries or medication please PM me. We don’t have to agree on everything but we do have to care about our brothers and sisters.

My wife bought a new to us subaru today in duluth. It was just traded in and they wouldn’t let her take it home until next week so they could go through it and clean it for her. My hope is that she will be able to get it before they shut us all down and shelter in place. If they do and she can’t get it, I also hope I get stuck in another house because she will be a very angry bear ???
I will say she definitely deserve one, she is a manager at Walmart and has been screamed at and belittled and even spit at since all this began. She puts in twelve to fourteen hour days six days one week and five days the next.being salary she gets no extra for all the extra time lately. Amazing how rude people are to someone just trying to fill and stock shelves so the same rude people can buy there extra toilet paper. She’s stronger than me by taking the crap day in and day out.

I agree. I’m fortunate enough to have a solid job that will remains stable, so I’ve already told myself that any money I get from the govt will be donated to people in need.

I like the feel in this thread. I’m checking in on & offering to shop for the old people I know.

Sent a few things outta the freezers to family who didn’t beat the hoarders.

Got our dinner guests just enough beers, that we had to get them a sober ride home(I win).

Took ice cream to the grandkids earlier today, just to wind them up & leave.

    It’s been a good day !

Gino, I haven’t shopped at any WalMarts much since this craziness has started, they seem to attract the extra insane! Please thank your wife from me and others for putting up with some people’s lack of humanity and compassion. There’s truly no excuse for it. I hope she gets her car!!!

The Walmart in Onalaska Saturday morning was an absolute $hitshow!Girlfriend went shopping while I watched our clients. She told me that social distancing was non-existent.She left about 5′ in front of her, only to have some jackwads cut into the line.It was supposed to be the time when senior citizens or such to do shopping, but was not enforced.Lot of items wiped-out,but there was some TP and paper towels to be had.In the case of lockdown, this would be the first place they should look at,not the solo person out there that just wants to be out fishing/boating.

On a another note, the other day I had to go to the”save big money”store. In the checkout in front of me,a seemingly well to do guy had some items and a few cans of denatured alcohol. He was telling the clerk that he had some ideas for home brew sanitizer.I sure hope he does read the label? And who knows what it would do to his almost new GMC HD truck?

    Great thread.
    We need more of this.

My customer asked if my graphics dept could print this sign for him.
Keep in mind that his families’ business (hotel and two restaurants) has been shut down.
His main concern has turned to helping his employees and community.

This is how we will win.

There’s a lot of acts of kindness, generosity and selflessness going on right now. Focus on that. Focus on helping. Focus on solving problems vs dwelling on the fear of the what if’s. Be creative. Shut the d @ m tv/phone/fb/news feeds off, even for a little while. Your heart and attitude feels so much better reaching out and offering what you have. If you’re hoarding and solely worried about nothing more than self, the virus isn’t what’s going to get you, you’ve already caught something much worse.

If my wife and I continue working through a shelter in place order we’ve decided to share any stimulus money with our brothers and sisters who may end up out of work.

We have some family members that are in retail and manufacturing that will not be considered essential services.

If we’re okay and they are not, they will be getting another check in the mail whether they want it or not

Kudos to those who will send any money & help onto others. Very commendable thing to do. I would caution everyone to make sure you and yours will be OK first. We really don’t know at this point how long this will last or the economic result when all is said and done. We maybe OK today, but who knows what the future brings.

I plan on making a “run” on Wednesday, which is my next day off. If anyone in the Red Wing/Rochester area is in need of something picked up but shouldn’t go out due to age or health-related matters send me a PM. Also, with the price of gas and the potential for disruption to supply lines (just a possibility, not trying to induce panic) I’d be willing to take someone’s vehicle to fill up with gas too. If for some reason a person would need to get to an emergency room I’d hate for them to be low on gas because they have been staying at home and didn’t realize they were so low.

My wife was on “vacation” and volunteered to go back to work on Wednesday. She said that people at the hospital have been overwhelmingly more polite and patient than average. She only had one encounter with a lady who was mad they couldnt magically create a supply of PPE or thermometers, and a douchbag Dr who tried to order prescriptions of hydroxycloroquine for him and his wife.

    Sir,
Do to the uncertain times that have fallen onto us I am sorry to inform you that at this time we are unable to fill any requests for smoking wood. If conditions change we will reevaluate the situation and make the proper judgement at that time.
Now if you need TP I have pallets of it stored in my shed. Even trade, oz of TP for oz of gold. smirk

Also on the glass half full and fortunate side. Wife and I are both able to wfh and part of essential businesses. Made a donation to Second Harvest food shelf wave

Will steal the idea if we get any federal money that becomes a donation as well.

Since moving up north last fall I’ve been doing a lot of volunteer work with the American Legion and DAV. Delivering food twice a week to shut ins. It’s a crying shame to see how some of these guys live after all they’ve done for our country.
My next thing is being trained for the honor guard for military funerals. Scheduled to start next month, we’ll see.

Volunteering not only helps people in need, it’s also good for the soul.
