Since Billy’s passing I haven’t been fishing much, but the itch to get back out there just wouldn’t relent. So I’m happy to report that for the first time in almost two years – I got back in the boat and did a little bit of fishing this weekend! And even more exiting, I caught my very first catfish!!

We were on Pool 3 for a bit, and then I caught a couple of smallies and a sunfish on the St. Croix as well, but I was really excited to catch a new species for me. It took me a minute to figure out how to hold the catfish just right and I’m thankful I didn’t get stabbed or cut!

    Congrats Sharon. waytogo

It’s been a pleasure to walk and talk with you on your journey “back.” Good job gathering in your courage, as well as reeling in your fish!

    toast

I was going to go catfishing off the back end of a neighbors boat a week ago today. So 3 days prior (Saturday) I put some shrimp in an empty water bottle and placed it in the sun thinking it would be ready by Tuesday.

Well plans were changed and I couldn’t fish. Now I still have those shrimp that have been sitting in the sun for 10 days.

I’m kind afraid to open the bottle…but if I can get one on a hook and into the water without “chumming” first, I know I’ll have a good fish on!

Well, it’s on the floor right next to me! 😁🤷‍♀️👍 I wear it whenever the motor is running, but set it next to me when we’re just chilling or trolling.

Does Joe know that you have a lot of “big brothers” waiting to have a talk with him?

Absolutely! And I feel pretty lucky knowing I’ve got about 50 “big brothers” watching my back. 🙂🤗

    Hello Sharon,
Congratulations on your first catfish!! If you are anything like me….your first won’t be your last. I absolutely LOVE catfishing. Late night/overnight/early morning trips are my favorite. Nothing like the feel of a big cat trying to pull that rod and reel out of your hands!! My personal best is not huge, but 12lbs of cat can really make a girl work hard. Best wishes and looking forward to pics of your next big cat! waytogo
